For people buying music, 2012 was all about Adele and Gotye, who had the best-selling album and song, respectively, of the year. But when it comes to whose voice we most often heard coming out of the radio in 2012, it was someone completely different.
According to the Nielsen Company's 2012 Music Industry report, Katy Perry was the most-played artist on the radio in 2012, followed by Adele and then Kelly Clarkson. The rest of the top 10 most-played artists of the year include Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Pink, Bruno Mars and country superstar Kenny Chesney.
As for the actual song that was played the most on the radio in 2012 , that's no surprise: it was "Somebody That I Used to Know." The second-most-played track was fun.'s "We Are Young," followed by Kelly Clarkson's "Stronger," Maroon 5's "Payphone" and Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain."
