Willow 25th Anniversary Edition to be Released March 2013

Yes, finally Willow is coming to Blu-ray. Here is the official word from Lucasfilm Ltd:

Journey to the far corners of your imagination with Willow, for the first time ever on stunning Blu-ray! Written and produced by George Lucas and directed by Ron Howard, the film tells a timeless fantasy tale in which heroes come in all sizes...and adventure is the greatest magic of all. I liked dark crystal when i watched it a few years ago. ofc the puppets gave me nightmares. My favourite childhood movie is jumanji

Also I remember reading that Willow was made because George Lucas couldn't get the rights to Lord of the Rings.

I'm still terrified of the dark crystal. :/ it + ...this show whose name I can't remember but possibly had asteroid in the title (with worm things? IDEK memory fml) both freaked me out.
vervain 6th-Jan-2013 03:40 pm (UTC)

Nightmares.

I know what you're talking of, sound a like show I've been looking for, for awhile. I can't remember the name of it either.
tundrabeast 6th-Jan-2013 04:48 pm (UTC)
It was so good and I wasn't expecting it.
karis_azura 7th-Jan-2013 08:55 am (UTC)
I bought an unopened jumanji game at a yard sale for a quarter...lol suckas.

and dark crystal is my fav movie from the 80s.

I love Legend so much, as clichéd as it is. Tom Cruise apparently refuses to acknowledge the film.
karis_azura 7th-Jan-2013 12:01 am (UTC)
Ugh, that trollop. That was one of his better movies.
cruel_april 6th-Jan-2013 03:29 pm (UTC)
YES YES THIS IS EVERYTHING I WANT.

Already got The Neverending Story on Blu for my birthday, this will make a good double bill!

Return to Oz is just wonderful. One of my favourites. Don't like the monkies on wheels.
vanishingbee 6th-Jan-2013 03:35 pm (UTC)
it was scary but awesome :)
elvenqueen86 6th-Jan-2013 07:44 pm (UTC)
Yes omg. That movie terrified me as a kid, but I love it so much.
hoot 6th-Jan-2013 03:59 pm (UTC)
Return to Oz is one of those movies that gets better when you watch it as an adult.
thetxbelle 6th-Jan-2013 04:02 pm (UTC)
The Last Unicorm!!! I used to feel so bad when she was turned into a human but relieved too because the red bull left her alone.
starry_niights 6th-Jan-2013 09:57 pm (UTC)

But I loved Legend so much as a kid...I crushed hard on baby Tom Cruise and am still so disappointed he turned out to be...Tom Cruise-y.
stigmatize 6th-Jan-2013 03:54 pm (UTC)
adblocked tbh
jainypoo 6th-Jan-2013 03:49 pm (UTC)
My favorite movie as a kid was probably the Muppet Movie. Everytime I see Willow, I think of Leslie Hall's "Willow" and chuckle.
thetxbelle 6th-Jan-2013 04:06 pm (UTC)
I used to love that movie! I think I still know the words to every song :D
jainypoo 6th-Jan-2013 04:39 pm (UTC)
I just found my Muppets diorama from my 3rd birthday around Christmas. It brought back so many memories haha I had Muppets pajamas, Pigs in Space posters, it was ridonkulous.
thetxbelle 6th-Jan-2013 03:57 pm (UTC)
I can't believe I'm old enough to have seen this in the theatre. I loved the fantasy genre growing up and can't pick just one so these are by order of importance:

Fantastic Adventures of Unico and the Last Unicorn are a tie, the rest are: Return to Oz, Never Ending Story, Labryth, and Flight of the Navigator. I liked Dark Crystal but it bored me at times.
vanishingbee 6th-Jan-2013 04:00 pm (UTC)
omg yaaaas @ flight of the navigator :D
thetxbelle 6th-Jan-2013 04:03 pm (UTC)
The part where they play the Beach Boys <3333 I feel like they played that a lot in elementary school whenever we had movie time but idgaf I still love it.
tundrabeast 6th-Jan-2013 04:59 pm (UTC)
SECONDED omg that was so good
jainypoo 6th-Jan-2013 04:40 pm (UTC)
I to this day cannot watch the Dark Crystal. I watched it as a kid and it terrified me. The gelflings, the vulture people...ahhh!
andisprohi 6th-Jan-2013 05:51 pm (UTC)
Flight of The Navigator was better than ET
karis_azura 6th-Jan-2013 11:57 pm (UTC)
My grandmother took us to see it in the theater too!! I remember somehow I got away from my folks though and started crying up at the front of the theater just underneath the screen (goddamn, what the hell was up with our parents in the 80s????)

OMG, I looooove Unico!!!! Nightmares for life though:

beesknees7 6th-Jan-2013 04:03 pm (UTC)
omg i already own this but i need the new version

I'm still pressed about the book sequel that killed off Madmartigan and Sorsha in, like, the first two pages.
margeauxmarit 6th-Jan-2013 04:08 pm (UTC)
This was my fave as a kid. I loved the hell out of it!
Actually the girl who played the baby grew up in my town. She went to my rival high school! Ha!
thetxbelle 6th-Jan-2013 04:09 pm (UTC)
Anyone else ever see the muppet movie called The Frog Prince? We had the record and I used to listen to it and watch that all the time, it was really Mr Rogers like with a real girl as the princess and a spell was cast on her so her words were mixed up.
trixielollipop 6th-Jan-2013 04:11 pm (UTC)
I actually didn't come into most of these fantasy movies until I was an adult and had Netflix, but Dark Crystal, Legend, Willow, Star Wars, etc. etc. are pretty much my fave movies ever now.
klmnumbers 6th-Jan-2013 04:11 pm (UTC)
The Last Unicorn was on repeat for me pretty much. And Labyrinth.
thetxbelle 6th-Jan-2013 11:19 pm (UTC)
Me too, we wore our copy out we watched it so much.
kaiserschmarrn 6th-Jan-2013 04:19 pm (UTC)
On of my favorite movies that I all forgot about until recently was Mio Min Mio!

I loved Casper. Man I loved so many movies. The Star Wars trilogy and the Indiana Jones trilogy. And it's been bugging me forever but I remember watching a movie with two boys (idk a prince and a servant?) and a black knight and a falcon but I can't find it. ETA: OMG not that anyone cares BUT I JUST FOUND THE MOVIE lmao only took me 15 years. It's a Danish production called "The eye of the eagle" (yeah it features an eagle instead of a falcon).

I watched this growing up dubbed in Swedish and I never knew that they weren't actually speaking Swedish. And it wasn't until I was like 19, I found out Christian Bale doesn't know Swedish! I was so disappointed!

Aww that's so cute <3 I watched it in German but I never realised that that was Christian Bale until long after I'd already become a fan of him as an adult again lol Suffice to say, my mind was blown.
