I just miss the Cosby Show and I wish there was something as clever, funny, with a powerful black woman like the flawfree Clair Huxtable was on TV again.
it makes me so angry. I never realized how far ahead of its time the Cosby Show was until I looked at the way other TV shows portray black women. It's sad that something from the 90s is more on point than the mess we have now.
I was just telling my mother how there's not enough equal representation in media for POC, and she's like "Why do you care so much? Why does it matter?"
Like...FOR FUCKS SAKE WE ARE BLACK.
She then 'clarified' with "It would be nice, but I don't need media to tell me I'm a worthwile person." and I'm like "Yeah, but it wouldn't hurt for children - and even adults - to see people like them doing extraordinary things. If race doesn't matter, why not include everybody?"
I watch 4 episodes of the TCS every day - two on Centric, and two on TVLand. I love it so much and can quote every episode. I also have every single season on DVD. LOL. I am obsessed.
I would love if Bill teamed up with Debbie Allen again (Phylicia Rashad/Claire Huxtable's sister) to create something as epic as A Different World again.
guess we gotta stick with Tyler Perry's cardboard tv shows
