Megan Ganz leaves Community for Modern Schamily


No one is going to be surprised, come May, if NBC schedules the series finale of Community. It’s been through so much, with the loss of its showrunner, the loss of Chevy Chase, and the battles its faced with NBC over its scheduling and renewals, really, since the very first season. We should probably be thankful that i

got four seasons, as most of us were with Arrested Development getting three seasons on Fox. At a certain point, you just have to say thanks for privilege, thanks for fighting for so long for the fans, and thanks for the wonderful, hilarious memories.

That’s what Megan Ganz — one of the best writers on NBC’s Community, the voice behind some of the best episodes (the documentary episodes, “Basic Lupine Urology” — has done. She’s moving on, taking a staff position on Modern Family, as she explained to fans of Community o Reddit esterday.

I don't want Community to end BUT I don't want to see iT become possibly worse. I'd rather remember it as a good show that was never given the chance to shine by BROADCAST IN EXCELLENCE, NBC

Gurl the 6th season was beyond horrible. I didn't like how they butchered Spike. The 5th season finale would've been a great series finale.

I hate all of the tv shows I used to love (Community, getting there with Parks, Downton, Doctor Who, possibly more I'm forgetting) but it doesn't seem like any there are any new wonderful shows replacing them. GET IT TOGETHER, TELEVISION.

Honestly I love Community but my god I can't take all the shit that comes with it.
I hope it gets a solid, fitting finale and I can be happy that I got four good seasons out of it

Community > Modern Family on both their best days, but Community is waning and Modern Family is still pretty okay.

I feel like all my sitcoms are heading downhill. Parks and Happy Endings aren't good any more...don't even get me started on HIMYM and The Office.

It's way too exhausting to begin watching a new show.

Ive actually liked The Office this season, beyond asshole Andy. It is its last season though so could be all the nostalgia. HIMYM has been terrible for years. MF has always been okay which is my biggest problem with it. I watch it every week but I have no desire to rewatch it. I liked every ep of Community last season so not sure why people hate it so much. But I did watch al the seasons in a short amount of time so maybe that helps

Even at its worst (season 3), Community is twenty times funnier than Modern Family. Pity that's not reflected in the ratings.

I loved it. It had some of the best episodes. Remedial Chaos Theory, Pillows and Blankets, Digital Exploration of Interior Design, the Abed/Annie one (3x16), Documentary Filming: Redux

AGREED. The show got so much better once they made Jeff a side character instead of the main protagonist.

Best thing about Season 3 for me was the Jeff/Shirley friendship because DH definitely had no clue about what to do with her before but the foosball episode made Jeff and Shirley both better. Also liked seeing when they were kids.
