Industry started becoming a mess during the 90's when they allowed this new breed of Studio heads take over. Far too much nepotism and Buddy-system going on which is why most of the films are lacking these days.
Same for the TV Industry that's lost all of it's diversity after the 90's. It's all because the studios refuse to hire "know-nothings" or unconnected studio heads.
