also, random and unrelated to ben but they killed off shannon when she started to get interesting! they killed off boone when he started to get interesting! just as they gave them some depth and made me like them just one or two eps before they killed them off. WHY??? they were the hottest ones and i wanted to see what those stupid walt visions were all about ugh -_-

Both of those deaths were for shock value tbh. That's the shitty thing about having a huge ensemble cast, the writers can go all "eh, we need to kill someone off to shake things up" and then a random character gets the shaft. Boone's death did give us some of the best Lost moments ever imo but still, ia that it was totally unnecessary and arbitrary.

yes i loved this so much:

v twin peaks (lol i get what my mum meant now that i've actually seen twin peaks)

and with shannon, i just thought she was a random bitch lol because they never bothered giving her any backstory - i did appreciate the few i times she was mean to kate but other than that... i didn't even care if she was linked with sayid because i kept thinking SHE HAS NO PERSONALITY. YOU JUST WANT TO GET LAID SAYID, ADMIT IT! but a couple episodes before her death, i started to warm to her a lot. her backstory made me feel sorry for her and i was really getting into her walt visions by then. idk, i also liked when they showed her hanging out with sun and claire every now and then.

That sequence was amazing. ita that it had that unsettling Twin Peaks vibe. Locke always had these awesomely eerie moments.

And ia, they took wayyyyy too long to make Shannon interesting but I also think the writers probably only gave her that depth and made us care for her in the end just so her death would be more "heartbreaking". Maybe if she had survived she wouldn't have gotten the time of day. idk idk

yeah true, they'd have spent more time on jack/kate/sawyer's love triangle then on developing shannon. i just think boone's death would've had more purpose if they used that as an opportunity to really develop shannon and have her become an integral part of the show (i know it helped to make a jack vs locke thing happen too, i think that would've happened anyway whenever jack found out about the hatch)

lol the Triangle of Doom. I can't. I never could. Sigh. ita that the Jack/Locke interactions after Boone's death were epic and that incident did set up the Man of Science/Man of Faith thing but the writers could have set that up in any number of ways. And yeah, Shannon barely had a reaction to Boone's death (and it was silent and seen from a distance, not even a legit scene) and then she was just there for a long while. Eh.
