THERE IS NO RUMOR MORE IMPORTANT THAN THIS ONE

Beyoncé Posts “Ratchet” Photo, Fueling Rumors Of Lady Gaga & Azealia Banks Collab

Ah, the perils of being Beyoncé : You can’t even post a fetching photo on Instagram without fueling rumors of new music. That seems to be what happened this weekend, when the social media-reticent queen showed off her swag in a new photo where she’s wearing a pair of earrings that read “Ratchet.”

“Ratchet,” of course, is more than just a frequently-used Rihanna hashtag — the word means rowdy, out of control, reckless and partial to twerking (look it up on Urban Dictionary if you want a more racist definition!) — and it’s been rumored for months that Azealia Banks and Lady Gaga were collaborating on a song with that title, which some zealous fans are interpreting to mean that this is an unholy meeting of the minds between Gaga, Bey and Banks. Radio surely isn’t ready. Neither are we.

In a post-”Telephone” world, of course, Bey and Gaga teaming up once again would be a natural fit. That said, it would be a shame to record a song called “Ratchet” without giving the Ratchet Queen herself, Rihanna, a chance to do her thing on the track, wouldn’t it?

Given the playful tone of Gaga’s “Cake” and Beyoncé ’s tongue-in-cheek recent visuals, a lighthearted super-diva collab wouldn’t be surprising — but either way, we should know sooner rather than later, with The-Dream promising new Bey tunes by the Super Bowl. Cross your fingers it will be as ratchet as suggested.

i don't even know why they'd want a song like it. and at least where i am, rachet is not used to describe someone "rowdy, out of control, reckless," it's used in a pretty derogatory manner for "trashy, skanky, ghetto, etc." i hate that people think it's sooo kewl to say

Yeah I've never heard it used to describe anything but the trashiest of the trashy.
