The video is two weeks old but a gifset of this is just now making rounds on Tumblr and bringing a lot of new attention to it. Thoughts?

I took a lit class once, and the use of the word came up a lot in relation to the fiction and nonfiction texts we were discussing, and the professor who was white was using the word a lot and so were certain white students. That evening someone e-mailed the professor to explain their discomfort with that and how no matter what the context it was just a very strong word to hear thrown around so trivially during class. The next day she apologized and basically told the class what the anonymous person had said.

Interesting, ty. So basically it's better to err on the side of caution and just never say it, even in a historical or literary context.
