Fantasia Barrino caused a firestorm of controversy when she posted a rant referencing gay marriage on her Instagram account. Some fans thought it sounded very anti-gay but the American Idol alum insists she's anything but.
“I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERMENT, THE church House… Everybody Trying!!!!!!!,” the singer wrote. “It’s a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! Im not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!”
Fantasia's rant was a reference to the criticism she's had aimed at her because she began her affair with her baby daddy Antwaun Cook when he was still married. The two became parents just over a year ago.
The angry response brought about a quick statement from Fantasia's management saying she was a strong supporter of "the LGBT community," and Fantasia herself got back into the fray, posting, "I, Fantasia Monique Barrino, don’t judge anyone because I don’t want to be judged. The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as the support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts.”

Where have I blamed you, luv?
You opened yourself up to this fight and your inbox is being raped because of it, so own up and give your obviously well thought out opinion on this matter with more details of why you are right... because right now I am doing this argument for the 3857374593th time in my life, and you think you know this situation better than the rest of us, then prove it.
I'm over people like you clouding hate, judgement, and blame through pretending to be "ok" with gay people... just as long as they aren't equal or have the same rights as someone like you who obviously worked hard to be heterosexual... right? As if you chose to be that way... right? Just like I've heard from Christians my whole life, you think it's a choice of if not you still believe something is wrong with me which leads you to believe that I don't deserve the right to be equal with you. That for some reason your religious beliefs somehow translate to our governments view of equality and rights. No, even if you are homophobic and don't agree with how I was born, it should never stop me from my own pursuit of happiness and freedom in this country. We all have the right to equality and your beliefs shouldn't stand in the way of mine.
My lifestyle does not impede on yours and no one is hurt by me being gay... so what is the fucking reason that you believe I shouldn't get married and have the 1000 different rights I don't have at the moment being given to me? The ONLY answer is hate. Hatred of a group you believe is not equal to you. So yes, blame is put on us everyday by people like you.
I'm soooo over having to defend myself to ignorant assholes.
What would be the point? For you to accuse me of dissembling?
I apologise if I offended you but I will blame you for one thing only... having had this debate before, you should have simply avoided another one.
You won't change my mind because I too have had this debate. It's how I feel I am quite comfortable with it.
It's simply a rose by another name. I want you to have every right I have.
Now, don't respond to me farther since it's so upsetting. Even if you do, I won't reply.
But your rose is keeping my rose from seeing the sunlight. If you truly wanted me to have every right you have, then we wouldn't be discussing this. I read before that you don't believe gays should be married but you would be ok with us having civil unions... which aren't equal. Look up equality and than come back.
And the fundamental issue with you and this argument is that you somehow believe gays want to get married in a church, but we don't. We want to be married under the governments law... which uses the word "marriage" in the books. So unfortunately your religion crossed paths with the government and now that word is used in two places. Most gays could care less about being accepted by your church, but we do want marriage under the law.
If you want YOUR marriage reduced to civil union under the government than I'm fine with that. You can have your non-legal marriage at your church and then your legal civil union at the courthouse, but until then, equality comes with use being seen equality in the eyes of the government.
Your church has consistently throughout history made terrible choices when it comes to minorities... so why is this different? In the bible woman are mentioned about 1000 more times than gays and have many more rules that aren't followed, yet that seems to not be an issue when it comes to women's right and equality? Why is that?
I really hope you someday realize that your church misinterpreted its texts and has taken the wrong side on history. Until then, I feel sorry that you see hate where none should be seen and that you can't let people who are different than you into your heart and stand up for their full equality with their government.
And you already upset me, so ending the conversation doesn't change that. If anything I am educating future people who read this thread.
