Fantasia: 'I'm Not Anti-Gay'

Fantasia Barrino caused a firestorm of controversy when she posted a rant referencing gay marriage on her Instagram account. Some fans thought it sounded very anti-gay but the American Idol alum insists she's anything but.

“I Rise ABOVE IT ALL!!! THE WORLD IS GONE MAD. KIDS, THE GOVERMENT, THE church House… Everybody Trying!!!!!!!,” the singer wrote. “It’s a lot that going on that the Bible speaks about we should Not be doing. Weed legal in some places, Gay Marriage Legal BUT YET IM JUDGED!!! Im not doing Nothing for you… My Life!!!!”

Fantasia's rant was a reference to the criticism she's had aimed at her because she began her affair with her baby daddy Antwaun Cook when he was still married. The two became parents just over a year ago.

The angry response brought about a quick statement from Fantasia's management saying she was a strong supporter of "the LGBT community," and Fantasia herself got back into the fray, posting, "I, Fantasia Monique Barrino, don’t judge anyone because I don’t want to be judged. The gay community is one of my largest supporters. I support the gay community as the support me. Bloggers please stop misrepresenting the facts.”

Wow... I hope Obama knew how you felt about him up to a few months ago?

Ok, I have changed my mind, I am now in favour of same sex marriage. Does that mean I am no longer a "homophobic asshole in a rampage against equality"?

Just like a square is a rectangle but a rectangle isn't a square... you supporting gay marriage doesn't mean you aren't homophobic, but denying it does.

Just like my grandma agreed with blacks and the civil rights movement to make them equal, yet she still says racist stuff all the time.

not entirely sure what you're getting at with obama, but i was incredibly fucking happy that he came out and showed support for gay marriage when he did. would i have been happier if he said it from the beginning? yes. would i not have supported him so whole heartedly had he been against it? also yes. but seriously: president barack fucking obama vs random bitch whiny on the internet? theres really no comparison here lol.

and yes, if you realise that equality is better than inequality and change your mind accordingly, you are now one step closer to not being an total asshole. congratulations.

Sadly it was sarcasm on their part. I'm starting to believe this is a previous banned member trolling because some things are just too stupid and button pressing to be a normal person.

Too many words to say nothing. If opposing same sex marriage makes you anti gay and Obama opposed same sex marriage for decades then is he anti gay? Yes or no.

And does his new position now make him not anti gay? Yes or no?
holly_berri 2nd-Jan-2013 12:45 am (UTC)
lol why are you talking about obama? i thought we were talking about your bigoted opinions right now. after you run for president and win, we can compare your eternal stupidity to obama, mmmk?

Let's break it down for you.
I said opposing same sex marriage does not make you anti gay. That's my, as you describe it, "bigoted opinion".
I then asked you, is Obama anti gay because he said his opinion is marriage between a man and a woman?

So that's where Obama comes in... I brought him in. You can answer or not?

oh fuck off. if a flaming picture of obama with a rainbow halo isnt enough of an answer to that question, you're either a lunatic or a troll.

personally, i think both. bye now
