Beyonce Super Bowl Halftime Show Gives Fans Chance to Shine on Stage

BEYONCE-SUPER-BOWL-HALFTIME-SHOW-FEB-3-2013

Pepsi announced Friday that 100 fans will hit the stage when the Grammy-winning diva performs on Feb. 3 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans. A contest that kicks off Saturday will allow fans to submit photos of themselves in various poses, including head bopping, feet tapping and hip shaking. Those pictures will be used in a TV ad introducing Beyoncé's halftime performance, and 50 people -- along with a friend -- will be selected to join the singer onstage.
The photo contest -- at www.pepsi.com/halftime -- ends Jan. 19, but Jan. 11 is the cut-off date for those interested in appearing onstage with Beyoncé.

i really hate comments like this one. i'm not black but it has been clear since the first time i saw black people that there are different skin tones of black people. is this statement not considered offensive??

i'm not black but

you could have stopped there, lol
mylittlerants 29th-Dec-2012 05:09 am (UTC)
lol why?
batty_gal 29th-Dec-2012 05:19 am (UTC)
because addressing the issue of magazines/etc. lightening black folk's skin is not in any way, shape, or form "offensive", and you hating said commentary and not being black at that causes me to give you the strong sideeye.

wait how is it not offensive? can't they just leave someone's skin color as is i mean
mylittlerants 29th-Dec-2012 03:39 pm (UTC)
just because i am not black means i have no valid opinion OR eyesight whatsoever? giving my a ~*~strong side eye~*~ still doesn't explain to me WHY, so, get over it. i am being reasonable. i understand that beyonce's pictures gets touch ups but just because it does, people still jump on skin color as if it is her fault. what if her photoshop picture were actually her true skin tone? would she not be black?? this goes for all light skinned black people of all tones.

i don't understand why ppl are jumping on you for this comment. i am black and i think comments like those are so stupid and offensive. i guess bc i'm around beyonce's skin color so i know that i can look really light if it's winter and i don't have a tan. it doesn't mean i'm not black it just means my skin color changes depending on how much sun i've gotten ffs.

Let's not act like Beyonce's photos don't get "touched up"
holyfrijoles_2 29th-Dec-2012 06:53 am (UTC)
i can understand where ppl are coming from w/that but i've seen comments on candids of her where they are attacking her for being "too light" or "white looking" it's bullshit imo.
nothingcleva89 29th-Dec-2012 07:24 am (UTC)
It's a problem in her candids because the magazines are altering those too...

I don't think it's an issue of her skin not actually being brown enough, but it's the issue of the lightening of her photos.
ponpiri 29th-Dec-2012 06:43 am (UTC)
Yeah I don't get the negative responses either. She's always been on the lighter side. Let us not forget that skin color changes with the season...

Of course her photos get 'touched up' but how that becomes her fault is beyond me.

Comments that insinuate that she's not black/bleaches/doesn't look black are offensive. As you stated, a standard of "blackness" doesn't/shouldn't exist.

This comment gives me pause, but I wouldn't consider it offensive. JMO
