‘Hobbit’: Stephen Hunter on Bombur’s blubber, dwarf boot camp

One of the most memorable dwarfs in “The Hobbit” is Bombur, described by J.R.R. Tolkien as “immensely fat and heavy.” The role was big in more ways than one for Stephen Hunter, the Sydney-based actor who brings the character to life in “The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey,” The Peter Jackson-directed trilogy is the first major feature film for Hunter, whose previous work includes parts in Australian television series. Hero Complex spoke with Hunter about landing the role, working with the brotherhood of dwarfs and grappling with his character’s enormous girth.

fatty love this wayCollapse ).

I loved Stephen HUnter he was brilliant as Bombur. I hope yall catched Bombur with a tray of food in the background feeding Bifur during the scene where Balin and Thorin are talking. It cracked me up along with the poor guy hustling during the running scenes even though he was dead last. Much love to Bombur.

I am seriously loving Thorin. As if I don't have enough to keep track of fandom wise.

so listen to this shit.

I went to see this movie with a guy from work tonight, and literally like maybbbe 40 minutes in (idk they were still at bilbo's house) he gets a text from his mom that she locked her keys in her car and he had to leave to go help her. So i literally sat for over 2 hours in this movie by myself. I have never felt so fucking lame ever. It was embarrassing. I don't go to movies alone. wtf :(
yurasama_love 29th-Dec-2012 04:10 am (UTC)
eeeeeeek that sucks
But was the movie good?
squishinator 29th-Dec-2012 04:23 am (UTC)
yeah it was good but half the time i was still stewing over the fact that i was left there, ya know?
bodyline 29th-Dec-2012 04:10 am (UTC)
omg that suuuuuuuuucks :(
misscrystal 29th-Dec-2012 05:29 am (UTC)
There's nothing wrong with going to movies alone. I prefer it a lot of the time actually. I only pay to see movies I really want to see, and there's nothing worse than sitting through a movie YOU want to see, with someone you DRAGGED to come with you.
gagglefuck 29th-Dec-2012 05:52 am (UTC)
i don't get why people are embarrassed seeing films alone tbh. no one in the theater knows you or cares about you. oof, not trying to make that sound mean or anything btw. seriously, though, everyone is watching the movie, not you.
mlleperian 29th-Dec-2012 10:48 am (UTC)
Nothing wrong with seeing a movie by yourself.

I would have been more annoyed that the guy got his phone out during a film, nothing more irritating than screen glare in a movie theatre!
madam_red 29th-Dec-2012 09:49 pm (UTC)
I went to see ROTG alone and I ended up being the only one in the theatre too, idgaf
