Britney Spears Will Get Fired From X Factor

Looks like Britney Spears' X Factor gig will be a one-and-done kind of deal.

As the new issue of Us Weekly reveals, the "Hold It Against Me" singer is on her way out as a judge for Fox's hit reality competition, which wrapped its second season on Dec. 20.

"Britney will get the boot," an insider tells Hot Stuff of the pop star, who joined the show in May, along with fellow newcomer Demi Lovato. "Producers wanted her for the long haul, but it isn't working."

One reason? Spears' $15 million contract, which sources say the low-energy mentor hasn't earned. "They paid all that for her to say 'amazing' and offer half-claps," a second insider tells Us.

Adds a third source of show co-creator Simon Cowell, who is leading the charge to axe the performer: "He wanted crazy Britney, but he got boring Britney."

Spears' firing would be the latest in a long line of departures over the show's short lifespan. In the space of just two seasons, the series has lost or let go of Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger, Cheryl Cole and -- most recently -- L.A. Reid, who announced his decision to leave earlier this month.

Spears is likely next on the chopping block, but Cowell, 53, hasn't always had it out for her. During a conference call in October, he told reporters that she had been "a lot better than everybody thought...She's very engaged...She has been, I think, a very, very good judge."

Alas, their professional relationship seems to have soured some, as has the singer's personal relationship with fiance Jason Trawick. Sources tell Us that the mom to Preston, 7, and Jayden, 6, has been increasingly butting heads with her beau.

"They are pulling away from each other," a pal explains to Us. "Unless things change, they will split for good."

might as well give demi the axe as well then.

sucks to see britney go, she was a good mentor.
we_eat_coldcuts 27th-Dec-2012 04:11 pm (UTC)
I doubt she needs the money, IDG why Britney would even do this again. I thought even going on the show as beneath her, TBH, and after seeing what it is, it was fairly evident to me that she even felt that way and decided to put no energy into it, so if anything, I would think that SHE was the one not wanting to the return.
davetvs 27th-Dec-2012 04:16 pm (UTC)
she doesn't have energy she's Britney Spears
bradentastic 27th-Dec-2012 06:19 pm (UTC)
she doesnt even have the energy to be britney spears
pastelward 27th-Dec-2012 04:21 pm (UTC)
that was brit giving energy, that's the most alive she's looked in forever and it was still lacking because that's all she can give in a live setting now. we just have to accept that, it's nbd. at least she looked pretty sometimes and made funny faces i guess.
marywebgirl 27th-Dec-2012 05:36 pm (UTC)
She doesn't need the money, but I think the people who make money off of her want to wring every cent out of her they can because they don't know if it will be impossible for her to earn anything next year or even next week.
xbellaxmiax 27th-Dec-2012 05:56 pm (UTC)
i completely agree. this show is shit, she doesn't need the money OR exposure, and she clearly just does not care- i have no idea why she decided to do it in the first place.
but it probably has something to do with the fact that she doesn't seem to make her own decisions for her life right now.
jainypoo 27th-Dec-2012 04:11 pm (UTC)
The girl obviously has social issues and he thinks he can trot her out there and she'll be wacky and zany? I love her, but even I could have told him he was barking up the wrong tree if that's what he wanted. Dummy.
babycnessa 27th-Dec-2012 04:19 pm (UTC)
They obviously were hoping she would have a huge meltdown in the middle of an audition so they HAD to show, because it wouldn't be fair for the contestant that was just so good and blah, blah, blah.
jainypoo 27th-Dec-2012 04:24 pm (UTC)
God, that's darksided....but you're probably absolutely right. I feel so badly for her. People in the business don't seem to view her as a person.
shatisarockgod 28th-Dec-2012 03:09 am (UTC)
That's why I didn't watch the show tbh. I don't like these types of shows to begin with but I do like Britney. I didn't even want to tune in to see her because I knew they wanted her to act like a trainwreck.
hotcement 27th-Dec-2012 04:11 pm (UTC)
wasn't it always supposed to be a one-year gig tho
die2nitelive4ev 27th-Dec-2012 04:13 pm (UTC)
I felt bad for her like she was hired just in case she had a breakdown and made good tv. Everyone just wanted her to fail and whoever said it was a good idea is not her friend
zombieland 27th-Dec-2012 05:00 pm (UTC)
whoever said it was a good idea is not her friend

I'm convinced that her "team" are just a bunch of money hungry leeches. Britney hasn't appeared to make any career decisions since her Blackout era.
xbellaxmiax 27th-Dec-2012 05:58 pm (UTC)
yep.
bradentastic 27th-Dec-2012 06:20 pm (UTC)
yeah i agree. i hate her team.
arielcharming 27th-Dec-2012 06:46 pm (UTC)
I completely disagree with all of this. Everything was controlled and handled in such a way to ensure Britney would not be put on the spot or put in a situation she couldn't handle. I think for her or her team, this whole XFactor really was about getting her into the public again and get good press, just positive, feel good crap.
holdmedownxx 27th-Dec-2012 04:13 pm (UTC)
i thought we knew this!
fostintowers 27th-Dec-2012 04:15 pm (UTC)
I didn't know a person can be fired after their contract finished.

The contract was for 1 season and Britney has her reasons for that...

And no one is surprised.

She was only good when editing was involved, though she provided a lot of lolz and awkwardness during the live shows, which I appreciated greatly.

I still think she got the best of the deal. Her confidence level seriously went up and she got new stylists~
pastelward 27th-Dec-2012 04:19 pm (UTC)
I still think she got the best of the deal.

yep! some people are really acting like she did x-factor any favors when it go no ratings boost out of her and she put almost no effort into it. i love her but come on.
pastelward 27th-Dec-2012 04:18 pm (UTC)
well, duh. he should keep demi. put two fresh new people on the end and none of this pulling stunts to try to get ratings like he did with brit (bless her heart), like get two people that have a personality and can talk.
hearthecity 27th-Dec-2012 04:20 pm (UTC)
X Factor is terrible
modernelegance 27th-Dec-2012 04:22 pm (UTC)
Well she produced products WAAAAAY better than Demi, so I don't think she did that bad of a job.
phreshprince 27th-Dec-2012 05:21 pm (UTC)
it's a reality show though. It has NOTHING to do with how they produce products or w/e. At the end of the day, she wasn't giving that drama, that spark, that energy Demi was giving. I'm not saying Demi's not going to get axed, but the way her and Simon connected (ew) I doubt he would let her go and drop the whole panel AGAIN
actxappalledx 27th-Dec-2012 06:32 pm (UTC)
idk tho, I think Carly would have gone far no matter who her mentor was. That had nothing to do with Britney
hypnology 27th-Dec-2012 04:22 pm (UTC)
I wouldn't be surprised. They need someone who will critique instead of praising someone's cuteness over vocal ability.
ddulcet 27th-Dec-2012 04:22 pm (UTC)
I haven't seen her on the show, but I read a pretty long review a few days ago about her on the x factor, and it said something like how she was actually a breath of fresh air, quite genuine and sincere in her reactions, the type of person that can't lie when she likes or doesn't like someone's voice (on the show), and based on all of the gifs of her from the show, i'm thinking.. maybe this is a valid point? idk.
katiefitch 27th-Dec-2012 04:28 pm (UTC)
idk man
i've loved brit since i was 11 so i'm not saying this as a hater but she barely judged, especially during live shows...like the most honest critique was her telling an act that she "just didn't get it". the rest of the time she was like, "i thought it was amazing", and that was it.
ddulcet 27th-Dec-2012 11:51 pm (UTC)
oh man.. I know exactly what you mean, I grew up with her, but now it seems like she's absent, really, like all the fucked up things that happened in her life really got the best of her, and she's almost lost.. :(
aleronihead 27th-Dec-2012 04:32 pm (UTC)
I never saw anything that seemed genuine and sincere from her tbh, just a lot of "that was amazing" 10 second comments or weirdly shady digs. Everything seemed groomed for tv, which is why the show sucks so much.
emptyobsidian 27th-Dec-2012 05:00 pm (UTC)
Lol that review was either a stan or someone paid them to say that. She seemed robotic and rehearsed to death. I don't think any reaction was genuine or sincere.
francesbcobain 27th-Dec-2012 05:32 pm (UTC)
