Top 10 Childhood Fictional Females

Chloe Finch, Alligator Blogger

Something about being back home for the holidays always causes me to regress. After setting aside 48 hours to hibernate and stuffing myself with as much homemade food as possible, I plan to spend the rest of break watching my old movies and reading my old books in my bedroom, which is still has painted-purple walls and my life-sized cardboard cutout of John Mayer.

Here are a few childhood heroines I’ll be revisiting.

Veronica Mars

I never felt like Emma Watson fit the book description of Hermione that well.
narppi 27th-Dec-2012 04:55 am (UTC)
Ugh I know, she is too pretty for me. I just wanted someone plain, so us plain girls had someone took look up to who kicked ass

ardenture 27th-Dec-2012 04:49 am (UTC)
Ariel from The Little Mermaid. She was headstrong, rebellious, and stood up for what she believed in!

xxxquothxxx 27th-Dec-2012 02:19 pm (UTC)
i hate when people say ~~~~~omg she gave up everything for dick

did they even pay attention to part of your world?
thetxbelle 27th-Dec-2012 04:49 am (UTC)
She-Ra and to some extent Jem but Jem is a little bit too whiny/damsel in distress to be a hero.
myxwill 27th-Dec-2012 04:50 am (UTC)

Helga really is a very complex character considering that it was just a show for kids. I miss when shows had stuff for kids to enjoy and adults to enjoy because the kids weren't really old enough to get it.
ludagurl3d 27th-Dec-2012 04:52 am (UTC)
ia. and the best thing about Hey Arnold now is the fact that I'm older and I can look at this show through a different perspective. When I was a kid, I just thought it was cute how Helga obsessed about Arnold, now it's much sadder - her home life, her emotional dependence on him because of the neglect she suffers, etc.
algore_galore 27th-Dec-2012 05:06 am (UTC)
i rewatched some hey arnold on netflix recently and thought the same thing.. like the episode where she has to go talk to a counselor, it was just really sad
mysticlady3 27th-Dec-2012 05:07 am (UTC)
Top 3 favorite episodes. I love that she was so complex especially in the later seasons. And the show had the best holiday episodes. The christmas one still makes me misty eyed because she was willing to give something she wanted for Arnold.
jei_corsair 27th-Dec-2012 05:10 am (UTC)
Love this show, and love Helga. I feel so bad for her sometimes.
x_brittacular 27th-Dec-2012 05:13 am (UTC)
I'm an irl Helga in the sense that I bully the guys I like because I fear rejection.
loverelapse 27th-Dec-2012 06:41 am (UTC)
i always enjoyed helga, but that episode ripped out my heart. i remember watching this with my best friend at like 4am and we were both like sobbing. awful.
dearmisterecho 27th-Dec-2012 07:24 am (UTC)
This is why Nicktoons rule all, esp. Hey Arnold! and Rocko's Modern Life. Hey Arnold! was sophisticated as fuck for a "kid's" show, and Rocko's Modern Life had the perfect balance of silly slapstick for kids and really dirty jokes for the adults that could go over kids' heads.
arianagrande 27th-Dec-2012 09:11 am (UTC)
I wish Mtv would've picked up the spin-off for Helga, it was such a good idea.

I was the sarcastic girl with long brown hair and glasses in high school. Hell, I'm still that girl.
redaodai 27th-Dec-2012 04:51 am (UTC)
I went as Velma for Halloween one year. Everyone thought I was really a girl so I guess it was a good costume.

It's creepy how her tumblr tag is just hipster fodder and Velma porn. It took a while to find any legit gifs of the actual Velma...
xcollsangelx 27th-Dec-2012 04:51 am (UTC)
I love having Daria marathons.
