Something about being back home for the holidays always causes me to regress. After setting aside 48 hours to hibernate and stuffing myself with as much homemade food as possible, I plan to spend the rest of break watching my old movies and reading my old books in my bedroom, which is still has painted-purple walls and my life-sized cardboard cutout of John Mayer.

I feel like there used to be a lot of women on TV who were really ~tough~ and spoke out against sexism. I can barely think of any women on TV like that now.

it seems like there's a lot more racism, sexism, and homophobia on tv now than in the 90s...from what i remember watching as a kid/pre-teen, anyways

Well I feel like there were strong bad ass women who could embrace femininity while still being tough and speaking out against sexism. Like I would argue that Buffy was really sex without sexualizing Buffy.

And yeah, I definitely agree that it's lacking today.

Even though she never speaks about feminism on the show, I think Fiona from Shameless is very much a feminist character, and Veronica too, although she doesn't get as much screen time.
