Ernest Hemingway said to "Write drunk; Edit sober." Really not good advice when you start liking everything you write drunk over sober. Like no wonder writers are alcoholics.

I do all my writing stoned. And most of my editing tbh.

Drinking though? Eeck. I would probably have no idea what I was talking about or trying to say.... I'd be asking my boyfriend "did I mention anything to you last night about magical fairies and evil trolls?"

I don't get so drunk I'm blacked out, but take a few shots and the words just chug out.
It makes me worrisome though because I don't want to have to be drunk in order to write.

My bf loves this quote. He rarely writes if he doesn't have whiskey. I, on the other hand, don't write at all when drunk or sober lol.

First of all, if you're actually a professional writer, I find that a very dangerous rule because that means a lot of alcohol. Also, whenever I write drunk, I write the stupidest shit, I don't know why anyone would like to read that stuff.

I actually spend $11 fucking dollars on the Neutrogena Healthy Skin because it's the only one I have used that doesn't make me break out or make my skin flaky in my T zone.

I believe the reason why the NRA has had such a lasting power over the hearts and minds of so many Americans is because it reinforces the idea that on a base level the American spirit is heroic. Their ideas, little more than out of touch colonial dogma, are the stuff our Nation's dreams are made of. PROTECT yourself, they say. DEFEND your family, they say. If this age we live in has taught us anything, it's that people with guns are seldom heroes.
I don't, however, believe guns are the only problem. Our nation's core is rotting. And no, I'm not talking about some asinine reversal of our "core Christian values". Religion, to me, is as unnatural and destructive to the human spirit as asbestos is to the flesh. What I'm talking about is the very nectar of the human experience, the primal inertia that lives at the center of us and pushes out--the ancient and innate understanding of our selves in correlation to the universe, and the value this connection suggests.
This core, this center, is the axis which our humanity revolves around. Without it, we stumble into class rooms, loaded guns holstered at our sides. We kill each other in the streets over drugs. We abuse ourselves with sex and alcohol, just to feel something--anything. I belive this degradation is caused by neglect. We've poured more into our machines (be they technogical or economic) than we have our hearts. In the attempt to actualize our future selves, we've fallen vitctim to our own genius (my science savy friends are probably fuming right now. I'm not a Luddite. I believe that science must work in conjunction with philosophy in order to maintain balance).
We can fix this by mending our relationships with nature, by stregnthing our bonds with others with real, tactile contact (not through a computer screen), by treating the next man as you would want to be treated, by turning off the fucking television.
Maybe I'm wrong. Fuck it, if I am. There's worse things than being wrong.
