MTV has ordered another season of Catfish: The TV Show.

The reality series, which is a spinoff of the similarly-themed 2010 feature, follows a small documentary crew as they help individuals determine if the people they've met online are really who they claim to be. It stars Nev Schulman (from the Catfish film) and filmmaker Max Joseph.

Catfish: The TV Show has truly captured the zeitgeist of the digital dating age,” said MTV Muiltiplatform EVP Dave Sirulnick at the time of the renewal. “The show has resonated with our audience by portraying the real life journeys of individuals trying to navigate the highs and lows of online dating -- an experience our viewers can relate to.  We are thrilled to bring the show back for a second season, and look forward to the fascinating stories that only Nev and Max can uncover."

Since premiering on Nov. 12, the RelativityREAL-produced show has performed very well for the network on Monday nights. Its 11 p.m. series premiere was the network's highest-rated ever for the hour, and subsequent airings at 10 p.m. have regularly ranked among cable's top 5 Monday shows in the key adults 18-49 demo.

The most recent episode pulled a 1.3 rating in the adults 18-49 demo and 2.07 million viewers. Performing especially well in persons 12-34, the show's current series average is jumping from a 2.4 rating to a 3.1 rating (a 29 percent increase) when Live+3 Day viewing is taken into account.

Catfish, still in its freshman run, airs its next new episode after the holidays on Jan. 7. At the time of the pickup, there was no news of an episode count for season two.

"As soon as they discovered he was born female," you mean. He identifies as a man, he is a man. I'm not trying to be difficult, I know what you meant, but still.

Did you see the episode? Nev was actually pissing me off at parts, he kept referring to him as a girl, too.

No, because I know I'd get pissed off, as someone who met her bf of 4.5 years on the internet.

A+ for informing people calmly!!! keep it up. i understand why some people act angrily when correcting peoples ignorance/lack of sensitivity/eduction on a matter, but the best thing is to just educate and not get mad at people. you're a good example of that and will remind me to keep doing the same with issues I care about. you did express your disappointment, which is more than fair, but you did it like a grown up without being like "um EXCUSE ME you stupid fuckface insensitive asshole piece of shit. I think you meant to say BORN FEMALE. fuck. asshole".

also thanks for helping me learn something
