LeAnn Rimes: Being unfaithful is stressful
Now LeAnn Rimes is singing about her affair with Eddie Cibrian... as she debuts new song about 'darkest moments' (appropriately called Borrowed)
She's talked about it to death - but now LeAnn Rimes has written a song about her very public affair with her now-husband Eddie Cibrian.
The country singer was The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on Tuesday and revealed that her latest single Borrowed is about the torment of falling for a married man.
Cibrian, 39, was married to reality star Brandi Glanville at the time of the 2009 scandal while Rimes was herself still married to dancer Dean Sheremet.
As well as performing the song, the much-talked about singer assured veteran host Leno that the affair was not conducted with 'complete abandonment'.
She told him: 'The song is about...the situation.
'I did go through a very public affair...with Eddie, who is now my wonderful husband.
'The song looks into the darker moments of things.
'People think that it was done with complete abandonment. It wasn't.'
Rimes continued: 'I call myself pathetic in the song because at that moment I was pathetic.
'The chorus is "I don't want to give you back".
'A lot of people who have been in that situation can relate to that...it kills me to give that up.
'It's a very intimate look into a very rough moment of my life.'
The Northern lights star, who was elegantly attired in a simple black leather mini skirt and saucy shirt combo, also wanted to put the record straight about turning 30 and her recent stint in rehab.
She said: 'I turned 30 this year and decided to go into treatment and take care of myself'
'30 days for 30 years...I wanted to see that worked out for me.'
Rimes claimed that she was only treated for 'anxiety and stress' due to growing up in showbiz and her consequent 'very weird life'.
She added: 'The last four years have been very compressed with stress...the affair, getting married.
'I didn't know how to deal with it so I wanted to take care of myself.'
Of course it wasn't long before the subject of Cibrian's ex-wife, who he has two sons with, came up.
However Rimes was decidedly tactful on the subject though she did joke that all the negative attention she gets from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi, 40, is 'flattering' in a weird way.
She said: 'I should feel flattered that she thinks I'm so interesting that I can be a storyline in her show.'
