It's always tragedy that makes the world stop & listen. Too little, too late.
tragickingdomxo 14th-Dec-2012 07:48 pm (UTC)
My heart keeps on breaking with more and more details coming out. This guy seemingly killed his dad and then when to CT to kill his mother and her class. I can't even process it.
cukoo4cocopuffs 14th-Dec-2012 08:07 pm (UTC)
They keep saying something and then not mentioning it again. I heard he went into a classroom and killed the teacher in front of her students. Ugh. This is my worst nightmare. I broke down in tears thinking of all those poor families.

the solution to the gun problems is more guns, don'tchaknow

Of course, it is. Why did I not think of that?

Absolutely horrific.

Everyone need to keep their opinions about gun law, etc. to themselves right now.

It is about the CHILDREN and the victims right now.
exlenne 14th-Dec-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
Disagree.

People who think throwing more guns at the problem definitely need to keep their mouths shut. Especially when they imply thing like "If those teachers had guns, those kids would still be alive, so if you're pro gun control this is your fault."

But gun laws definitely need to be a part of this discussion. We've done enough hand-wringing. Every time something like this happens everyone is like "TOO SOON, LET'S GRIEVE FIRST" and then we never have the discussion.
darkwarrior 14th-Dec-2012 07:56 pm (UTC)
If Teachers had guns the first thing that would happen in high schools across the country is one dick teen threatening a teacher with violence and the teacher killing them in self defence.

Guns are not a life necessity and the idiots who demand them are ridiculous.

Then when's the time to talk about it? After the Aurora shootings people were like, oh it's too soon! And then as time passed the the Sikh Gurdwara shooting happened, and now this. Either we talk about it now or never. Shootings are gonna keep on happening and action needs to be taken.
soho 14th-Dec-2012 08:12 pm (UTC)
No, we live in this country. We should not have to constantly live in fear. It's too late to be discussing gun control laws. This has to stop.
delicious_pocky 14th-Dec-2012 09:26 pm (UTC)
wrong. gun control needs to happen now and there's no better time to discuss it.

"it's about the CHILDREN"

A GUN FUCKING KILLED THE CHILDREN
siri_greene 14th-Dec-2012 10:14 pm (UTC)
LACK of gun laws is what killed these children, of fucking course we have to talk about them and try to fix them
palebluedot09 14th-Dec-2012 10:31 pm (UTC)
"If roads were collapsing all across the United States, killing dozens of drivers, we would surely see that as a moment to talk about what we could do to keep roads from collapsing. If terrorists were detonating bombs in port after port, you can be sure Congress would be working to upgrade the nation’s security measures. If a plague was ripping through communities, public-health officials would be working feverishly to contain it.
Only with gun violence do we respond to repeated tragedies by saying that mourning is acceptable but discussing how to prevent more tragedies is not. But that’s unacceptable. As others have observed, talking about how to stop mass shootings in the aftermath of a string of mass shootings isn’t 'too soon.' It’s much too late."
