I mean, should all the regular people on FB "keep their mouths shut" too? What is wrong with them expressing their thoughts just like everyone else? We're all human and we're all affected by this.

No.

These kind of things have to pass houses both State and Federal and the Republicans are at the moment ttrying to burn America to the ground to preserve a 2% tax cut for the richest people.

If you think there is any chance whatsoever of them passing a law that means you might need to ya know, identify yourself before picking up a weapon and not swap it for money, you're living in a dream world.

When the Republican party dies the country will be a better place. Until then, do your best to vote them away from any position of power.

Won't make a difference. If someone wants to do harm they are going to do it. Criminals don't follow the laws all gun law reform does is disarm law abiding people and keeps them from protecting themselves.
noneformethanx 14th-Dec-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
Nope. I live in Arizona where congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords was shot. There are no concealed weapons laws here. People openly wear guns and knives out

With children being involved, I do think we will see the most debate over it.

Plus Obama (at least according to republicans) has been passionate about gun regulation and this could be the event to get him to push it forward.

But to answer your question, no.
elvenqueen86 14th-Dec-2012 08:20 pm (UTC)

yehyijun 14th-Dec-2012 08:44 pm (UTC)
Nope. Until these kinds of tragedies happen to them or hits close to home (sadly), I don't think they'll budge on their stance in "the right to bear arms." This, just like every other shooting massacre in the past, will just be faded out into the past and forgotten until the next one happens.

No...guns are big business and make the government a ton of money. Republicans/those who want to protect their ~right to bear arms~ push a lot of money at the government...there is prob a huge dependency on the money they get from guns. I wish it would :/ This is really getting out of hand.

@piersmorgan Never seen President Obama so upset. And he just ordered the gun control debate to happen. Good for him, true leadership in a crisis.

‏@blakeshelton My heart is so heavy right now... I can't shake it off.

@joshuagates My heart is heavy and angry. There is another way: A land without guns - How Japan virtually eliminated gun violence: http://www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/07/a-land-without-guns-how-japan-has-virtually-eliminated-shooting-deaths/260189/#.UMuKj7Q0kw4.twitter

@ezraklein Gun control may not be the right answer to mass shootings. But not talking about what to do is definitely the wrong answer.

If any other plague was leaving piles of dead bodies all over the country, including children, our country would figure it out. #FUCKGUNS

Michael Muhney ‏@michaelmuhney
31 school shootings since Columbine. Real change must be DEMANDED. Our forefathers never wanted this. Hug your kids today.

David Anders ‏@QuestionAnders
As much a I use them in my pretend life in TV & movies I abhor guns and the douche bags in my country who stand in the way of stricter laws

Timothy Omundson ‏@Omundson
Just walked out of my girl's winter concert. The kids finished with 'Imagine'. So beautiful. Then I checked Twitter. Now I want to throw up.
darkwarrior 14th-Dec-2012 07:46 pm (UTC)
Every time this happens "now is not the time to talk about gun control". When is it time?
brenden 14th-Dec-2012 07:46 pm (UTC)
(also, everywhere is identifying the guy's fb profile .... idk if these are real but the statuses on the accounts)

nymphadoratonks 14th-Dec-2012 07:47 pm (UTC)
sorry, that was tacky.

galagooo 14th-Dec-2012 07:52 pm (UTC)
Was this profile updated just now? Reports I read said the shooter is dead.
hoot 14th-Dec-2012 08:06 pm (UTC)
I remember when the Aurora shooting happened people were posting the FB profile of some guy with the same name who wasn't the shooter. Apparently the guy was getting horrific FB messages. I don't think he even lived in Colorado.
faithgrowsold 14th-Dec-2012 08:10 pm (UTC)
Man, if this is real, that's terrible.
fwee_prower 14th-Dec-2012 08:38 pm (UTC)
egsjay 14th-Dec-2012 08:41 pm (UTC)
Apparently it was a guy named Ryan Lanza, but the media found the wrong Facebook profile and posted his picture. =/
swissbeauty23 14th-Dec-2012 08:44 pm (UTC)
he needs to change his Facebook name for a bit...:/
disclosure 14th-Dec-2012 08:49 pm (UTC)
I thought it was confirmed that its a different Ryan Lanza?

He's certainly not handling it super well but I can imagine being young and having this happen, hearing your name everywhere and having people think it was you would be quite upsetting.
glo_unit 14th-Dec-2012 09:39 pm (UTC)
I honestly hope he sues the fuck our of a lot of media outlets.

Blake Shelton: The killing of defenseless people and innocent children. I’m sad and sickened. This is why we all should be prepared to defend and guard.

distant_lines 14th-Dec-2012 07:48 pm (UTC)
Are we supposed to send kids to school with guns so they can defend themselves? I love Blake, but come on!
celica18l 14th-Dec-2012 07:54 pm (UTC)
No but i'm hoping schools will have better security and School resource officers on staff now.

Semi-relevant.

treebraids 14th-Dec-2012 07:53 pm (UTC)
Makes no damn sense. I'm not exactly sure how his "defend and guard" is meant to be implemented. snipers patrolling schools? Teachers carrying guns in holsters?
mynamehere07 14th-Dec-2012 07:59 pm (UTC)
WTF? Do kindergarten teachers need be armed to do their job.

fuck this piece of shit. I'm too mad to even his the caps key.
lovepollution 14th-Dec-2012 08:02 pm (UTC)

delicious_pocky 14th-Dec-2012 09:24 pm (UTC)
i went straight to his comment cause he is married to miranda lambert, huge republican and gun-supporter. was not surprised by what he said and can't understand how he maintained the "nice apolitical guy" image for so long.
stormer1_1 14th-Dec-2012 09:56 pm (UTC)
Get off my planet you moonshine guzzling Jesus-fucker.
polekatz 14th-Dec-2012 10:43 pm (UTC)
He could be thinking about other security measures such as not allowing people who shouldn't be into schools?

I don't necessarily think he's thinking of strapping kids with weapons.
s7ilver 15th-Dec-2012 03:09 am (UTC)
