Well, we didn't really believe Barney would date Patrice, considering he's so in love with Robin.
The second part of the episode was originally called "The Robin". Another clue there.
Then the creator of the show Tweeted that two episodes ago, they were kicking off a four episode arc.
There's also the fact that the press release for the episode stated someone was getting engaged and Barney was planning on proposing to Patrice. Obvious misdirect.
And there's also promo photos where Robin's holding out "The Robin" play, which is Barney proposing to her.
Patrice is clearly in on it since she loves Robin and wants her to be happy. It's unclear if the gang is, but I hope they are.
What made it even more obvious was last episode. Barney clearly knew that Ted, Robin, and Lily were there - He made it a point not to look in the closet. He and Patrice "fought" outside so they could make their escape. He looked at Robin at the end when he talked about being in love. It's all part of the play.
There was also the fact that 8.14 is called "Ring Up" (We found this out a few weeks ago) and it sent alarm flags up.
So yeah, that's how we figured it out. Only took us about a day or so, tbh.
yeah, some of those things I noticed. especially barney not looking in the closet and the end when he looked at robin. so glad it's happening now and they aren't dragging it out any longer!
