Emilia Clarke as Holly Golightly in 'Breakfast at Tiffany's'

Emilia Clarke is trading in Daenerys Targaryen’s famous look for Holly Golightly’s: The first photos of Games of Thrones’ Clarke as Holly from the new Broadway play Truman Capote’s Breakfast at Tiffany’s have been released.

The classic New York love story, based on the novella by Capote and best-known from the 1961 movie starring Audrey Hepburn, comes to the stage when it has its world premiere on March 20. In addition to Clarke, the show will star Cory Michael Smith as Fred and is directed by Sean Mathias with a script penned by Richard Greenberg, the Tony Award-winning writer of Take Me Out.

“The goal of this version is to return to the original setting of the novella, which is the New York of the Second World War, as well as to resume its tone — still stylish and romantic, yes, but rougher-edged and more candid than people generally remember,” Greenberg said in an earlier statement.

It's just masturbatory fodder for boys who can't hope to ever see a girl like Emilia Clarke naked in real life. Dragons and boobs? Might as well make a show for me with MGG, the Phelps twins, and a keg of Yuengling.

I mean, yes and no lol. She wasn't naked at all in the second season, and isn't really the main focus. She is definitely a focus, but there are a lot of other things going on than just dragons.

But yeah, there are way more boobs around than dick. And the dick we do get is Alfie's. LMAO

There are a lot of boobs, but there's way more to the show than that.

I give production choices like that the side-eye. If boobs aren't all that important, why does the viewership need them so much?

people are gonna argue with you about this but I've watched all of the show and read the first two books and I agree with you. esp after talking to my male friends about the series overall. it all comes together like some overt male masturbation fantasy in the end

I'm sure there are some really cool plot points and interesting themes, but from what I can tell, it feeds directly into the contemporary media focus-group version of "nerd culture," and I stay away from that shit like the plague.

Why aren't you working in television? I would watch the shit out of your show.

Wow, way to destroy an entire genre. I could say the same about romantic comedies and how they treat men.

I'm a woman and I enjoy this show. You know why? Because it's full of fantastic characters, male and female. Danaerys goes from being a victim to a conqueror. Arya is probably the most independent woman in the show. The only female character on the show who's an absolute waste of my time and space is Sansa.

What's wrong with dragons? You sound like you just hate fantasy in general, tbh.

I watch GOT but I know where you're coming from. Not to mention the writers put rape in the series between Emilia Clarke's character and her husband when it wasn't even in the book in the first place. Not sure what the excuse for that would be other than thinking fanboys want to see rape.
watermeloncholy 13th-Dec-2012 08:46 pm (UTC)
He does rape her in the books though.

ia, i stan for aSoF&I hard, but the show just takes a lot away from it, "masturbatory fodder" describes it very well.

If it was an equal opportunity masturbatory fodder in terms of gender, I might be more inclined to actually support the show and buy some merch. As it is, I have only bought the books, and I plan on (continuing to) pirate every single ep.
meow_tan 13th-Dec-2012 09:09 pm (UTC)
yes and no, but i can say that emilia only appears naked a couple times
lathwen1 14th-Dec-2012 12:05 am (UTC)
I like the show, but I kinda agree with this. Some characters are displayed as masturbatory material
