I was super into them like last October. But, I never got obsessed enough to watch their X Factor stuff. So when I saw this tonight and they showed the footage of them crying while being eliminated I was cackling. I think it's because they seem kind of entitled and douchey now, but regardless it made me laugh.
I know you're the biggest 1D stan on ONTD but come on? You don't think the crying was so over the top? I know it's X Factor... But bleeding Christ. You would think their families died.
I don't know where you get entitled and douchey vibes from them - they come off as lovely and fun to me. But el mayo...it's amazing how far they've come.
Love 1D but looking forward to Harry's solo rock album and Zayn's R&B album tbh...I have no idea what kind of sound Naill would have if he went solo, and I think Liam would probably do a Justin Timberlake-esque deal.
So are they a single entity then? Like, corporations are individual people, and so are bands now?
OT, but I'm bored and can't sleep so I started a "discussion" with a men's rights activist on youtube (on Jenna Marbles's latest video). Why do I do this to myself?
everytime they sing one of their ed sheeran songs they sound extra english lol. it's overkill in over again when louis is singing about ~the showers that are british~
I learned this awhile ago, but it's a conscious decision because the Western/North American/idk-the-proper-term-for-it accent is easier to sing in. It's easier to get a group of people singing that way as opposed to everyone singing with a different regional accent. Or something.
If you went through a mall and gathered up a few decent singers and brought them together, you'd likely have a band on par with One Direction, vocally.
Would the charisma be there? Probably not. That's what they have going for them.
idk i guess they're interesting because they're the first boyband since the bsb/nsync era to make an impact? especially since everyone has been so gung-ho about being against manufactured pop music since then. also they're british, one of them is muslim, they're the first boyband to really take advantage of social networking, the x-factor phenomenon, they definitely don't try to be squeaky-clean like the jo bros did etc.
they themselves are probably not that fascinating, but the circumstances of their success is and is quite interesting to explore imo.
That must be a matter of opinion - there is PLENTY interesting about them. I gave no fucks about them as early as April, watched a couple of videos and fell in love. They are VERY talented, sweet, and just fantastic. You don't have to minimize them like this.
i made my parents watch with me and i think they finally see the light and understand why i made a powerpoint to beg them for tickets to 1D next year (which worked)

"Harry, the one I just don't like, gonna cry face, little eyes, and the other/blond one"
CELINE DION on the other hand...

Not insulting the band; idc about them.
