I still have 3 1/2 scarves to crochet before Christmas. I'm lazy.
theoryofwar 12th-Dec-2012 07:51 pm (UTC)
I'd love to learn how to crochet to make scarves! I only know how to do one line, which I use when I make my beaded necklaces. Even with the videos I watch I get all confused. :(
seashell_bikini 12th-Dec-2012 08:20 pm (UTC)
I found crochet to be much easier than knitting. I just couldn't get the hang of knitting.

The scarves I'm making are with the "Sashay" yarn and aren't even true crocheting.

You should try these if you like the look.

Gaaaaaaaaah, I don't know what my boss is talking about. Apparently people are taking things out of his office and using them? And then he's asking me if I'm buying stuff for the shop? Besides immediate supplies I always buy for the most part...I don't buy things? I'm so confused and fuck Alzheimer's.

One of his friends tried to tell me that his Alzheimer's doesn't seem any "worse" than standard memory loss for old age. Because he can tell you where stuff is apparently stored from years ago? Well that guy wasn't in my office just now when he was trying to explain to me that people are using stuff out of his office but he couldn't tell me what stuff...wtf
kissoffools 12th-Dec-2012 08:24 pm (UTC)
My grandpa has Alzheimer's, and honestly, he's still pretty good about stuff from his past. Like he can tell you all about the time he was six and driving a tractor down the road and the police waved at him and how that would never happen now. But ask him where the salad strainer goes when you're drying dishes at his house? Nada. So your boss' friend kind of sounds like a farce to me.
theflyers 12th-Dec-2012 08:27 pm (UTC)
Ah bb, I'm sorry to hear about your grandpa. It's the ugliest disease.

This is exactly what I was trying to explain to his friend as well. That if you're talking to him about the past, it's not so different. But my bosses big problem is WORDS, he knows what he's doing 99% of the time. But he struggles to find words, like he just had a conversation about "the things, those things, and then you put it with that other thing." Seriously, the word "thing" makes me cringe at this point. I have started having him point things out to me, even if I need to get off my butt, I'm making it easier for everyone that way.

Also talking to someone for a few minutes != a good time to diagnose their problems! Needless to say, most people don't know of his illness, they just know he doesn't talk on the phone anymore :| I tell people he's semi retired :| It's not my place to tell others, etc.

How many of you prep recipes earlier in the day in advance and then cook it right before dinner time? I know this makes sense but I feel weird starting dinner preparations at noon ;(
Dnw responsibility
rhcp 12th-Dec-2012 06:37 pm (UTC)
depends on what i am cooking but i like prepping as far in advance as possible. it helps.
zeldafitzgerald 12th-Dec-2012 07:04 pm (UTC)
I often do mise en place well in advance if things will stay fresh.
williammiller 13th-Dec-2012 05:54 am (UTC)
Sometimes my mom will. She'll prep something the night before and then ask us to turn the over on or put it on the stove so it's ready when she comes home.

i'm sad i missed the roundup. i'm having a pretty awful day. basically i've been seeing this guy since halloween and we really have had a great time. i kind of always knew though that he was probably going to move back home to kentucky in april which is fine--still a good amount of time to get to know each other. so yesterday as we're hanging out he tells me that he's 85% sure he will have to move home on january 1st. he doesn't want to do long distance which i respect but it's just kind of shitty, idk i just feel terrible right now.
heydigital 12th-Dec-2012 07:16 pm (UTC)
That is rough I'm sorry :( I would say casually keep in touch and maybe work/life will bring you back together again, but of course don't hold out for him! Enjoy being single.....there are a few more great guys out there. :)
williammiller 13th-Dec-2012 05:54 am (UTC)
I'm sorry bb :(
theoryofwar work has taken over my life!!!12th-Dec-2012 07:48 pm (UTC)
and now I'm super sick and ugh. I was going to take tomorrow off, but nope. I ended up getting really sick the second night of Hanukkah. I've been living off: crackers, oj slushies, dr. pepper slushies, ice water, and a bit of tea.

It's given me time to catch up on the walking dead and watch some mst3k.

The best part is waking up to check your phone. I apparently decided I wanted to sign up for the peace corps. I had a place picked out and everything.

williammiller 13th-Dec-2012 05:53 am (UTC)
I hope you feel better!
