ESPN Radio Hosts Call Transgender Athlete “It” In Disgusting Rant



Steve Czaban and Andy Pollin of Washington D.C.’s 980 AM ESPN Radio went into a vile, transphobic rant last Thursday over transgender college basketball player Gabrielle Ludwig, referring to her as “it” and criticizing her appearance.

the only people it would affect at all are the players from opposing teams who are at a vast size/strength disadvantage.

I believe that's the point these assholes were trying to make, and I thought about if it were at all valid, but it seems like it would get too complicated to tell a trans woman she can't play because she's too big (purely out of wanting fairness for the other girls). What about cis women that are big? What about trans women that have a smaller build? Complicated issue.

Sport seems to have a long way to go when it comes to dealing with people who don't fit into very rigid gender categories.

This kind of reminds me of the Caster Semenya horrorshow. These women get treated like shit for something that isn't their fault.
