How to get a stomach like Benedict Cumberbatch: Secrets of an A-list body

We reveal how to get the enviable physiques of the stars. This week, Benedict Cumberbatch’s stomach.

He has described himself as an unlikely sex symbol, yet the 36-year-old star of Sherlock has a body that is envied by many

So how does he keep his ripped abs in such perfect shape?

‘With Sherlock, it’s lots of seeds, juices, swimming and running,’ says Cumberbatch.

However, when filming the forthcoming Star Trek sequel in Hollywood (he plays a baddie), he had a personal trainer.

TRY THIS: The abdominal hold  — sit on the edge of a dining chair and place your hands on the edge, on the outside of your thighs, fingers pointing forward towards your knees.

Tighten abdominal muscles, put weight on hands and lift feet off the ground. Hold position for 5-10 seconds or as long as you can.

Repeat for 60 seconds in total.

oh, I see what you're saying now

i only said my comment bc I used to do that too but I didn't see any improvement until I just forced myself to start doing real push ups, buuuuut I also had the previous benefit of being on sports teams in high school and I used to have a personal trainer freshman year of college (yay discounts)

i apologize, we're all different bodywise and I wasn't thinking

haha that's okay.

i tried real push-ups for a while because i was impatient and didn't want to be relegated to baby push-ups (lmao)...all i did was basically stay in the upright position, straining the whole time. and then i tried moving and got about as far as a centimeter down before i collapsed. *sob*

i need more muscle, dammit.

one of the biggest things that helped me with my muscle definition and performance in high school was being anal about my diet tbh

NOOOOOOOO.

you will pry my fried chicken and korean bbq out of my cold dead hands tbh.

lmao I LOVE KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN so good

but yeah, idk what to say except that diet is a major building block - when i used to lift weights in soccer, I didn't understand why I wasn't seeing much improvement bc I (thought) i was eating relatively healthy

turned out I was taking in too much sugar and not enough protein, so by just reducing my intake of juice, soda, and some of the more sugary fruits like grapes and eating more grilled chicken and dark greens like spinach and romaine lettuce BAM i had toned arms that were fucking awesome... for like 6 months until winter came and i ate like shit again

my gym teacher in middle school said that just maintaining the push up stance helps build muscle even if you don't dip down, also doing them on your knees helps

I think you're helping by doing the baby push ups!
