from my understanding and from what i've read the movie leaves you to draw your own conclusions
I've read that during the waterboarding scene isn't when they get te info from the detainee. it's later after he's been locked in a box for a longgg time (a form of psychological torture, sure) and they are feeding him hummus and talking to him that they get the info. and the info doesn't even directly lead them to bin laden. it's 7 years later and lots of ~cia~ work that really gets them there. leaving the audience to take from that what they want.
