See, the problem is that kind of meta would sort of work if this was the same, darkly comedic show it was when it first started. But once it became all Up With People, it sort of lost the right to have that edge about stuff. The show has never been able to figure out how mean-spirited it wants to be in its current incarnation and when you have a spazz like Murphy at the helm who bows to and then insults fans with equal tactlessness, it's bound to be a fucking mess.
