LINDSAY LOHAN I Can Barely Pay My Rent

Lindsay Lohan's financial situation is so dire, she is struggling each month to pay the rent on her Beverly Hills mansion ... TMZ has learned.

According to our sources, Lindsay has been scraping together the money to pay her $8,000 rent. We're told Lindsay signed the lease on the home back in February ... when her career was on the upswing and the money seemed to be rolling in.

But according to our sources, when Lindsay's finances took a turn for the worse (like when the IRS seized her bank accounts) she began doing whatever she could to make rent each month, often hitting up friends for money.

Lindsay tried to get out of the lease and move out early, but we're told the owners of the home told LiLo the penalty for breaking the lease was MASSIVE.

So Lindsay is making it work until the lease is over in February and LiLo is telling friends she'll then look for a place in New York.

Maybe Dina needs a roommate.

What's the penalty cost of not paying the rent?

well most of the time, you have to pay money to get out of any contract. lilo would probably have to pay way more than just however more months left rent to get out of a lease. it would be more cost efficient to just stay put and leave when the lease is up.

If she has just a few months I seriously doubt the penalty is MASSIVE. But, what's massive to Lindsay these days? Is it three months rent? A year?

if you break ur lease you still have to pay for all the months left on the lease

In theory and acording to the agreement, most probably. In reality, all kind of arrangements can obtain.
I can probably think of three or four.

well obviously there are exceptions but it depends on how nice your landlord is...i'd like to see this case go to judge judy tbh

sometimes. if i break my lease, i have to pay 3 months rent at once, but i'm free to go.

That's what I am thinking. That gives them more than enough time to secure another tenant.

In California, you can't actually be penalized for breaking a lease. The landlord would be allowed to keep her deposit for any unpaid rent & late fees while she actually lived in the unit, as well as damages, but they can't make her pay a penalty or the remainder of the lease if she leaves early. Additionally, she can only be charged twice the monthly rent as a deposit (2.5 monthly rent with a pet), so at most, she put out a $20,000 deposit, if she leaves and the place is in good condition and doesn't need repairs, she would still be entitled to get back whatever wasn't used to pay unpaid rent/fees, which would probably be close to $10,000...

The best idea for her is to move.

YAY!!! Finally the 9 week California Rental Housing Management course I had to take for work paid off!!!

Property Rental and Vehicle Repossession in the state of California are probably the only two things I would say I know backwards and forwards, lol

she might have signed a special contract though. I def. would w/ her rep if I owned that house.

If its a house she'll have to pay back the entire amount if yr lease plus what she owes. So think $8000 X12 plus what she owes and the late fee charge for breakig contract that's more than likely $8000 as well.
