Disney TV Movies that Need Sequels

After Monday's exciting news that Life-Size, Tyra Banks' greatest contribution to television, is getting a sequel, a world of opportunity opened. The 2000 straight-to-TV movie became an instant guilty pleasure, but it was just one of Disney's many original movies to premiere on ABC or Disney Channel. There are plenty of others that deserve sequels of their own, but we're focusing on the best of the pre-High School Musical era -- because let's be honest, nothing was ever the same after that. Before that franchise, Disney Channel movies were adorably cheesy with cute, if completely unbelievable, storylines. Since the ill-fated day that Zac Efron had to choose between drama club and the basketball team, the movies lost all of their charms and became mere vehicles for the network's latest stars (all of whom were required to sing, apparently). Here are some of the classics (we use the word lightly in all respects) that haven't gotten sequels yet, and are long overdue:

I loved Susie Q so much. They shouldn't touch it. Was My Date with the President's Daughter a Disney original? That was right before Eric (don't know his real name) got the pudge. I wouldn't mind a sequel to that.

REMAKE SMART HOUSE!
twowaymirrrors 9th-Dec-2012 03:49 am (UTC)
I think it was an ABC movie but it's close enough since they own Disney or Disney owns them whatever
minderbinder 9th-Dec-2012 03:53 am (UTC)
Oddly enough, I was just thinking about My Date with the President's Daughter the other day. Idr why tho, lol.
asymptom 9th-Dec-2012 04:01 am (UTC)

I remember watching it with my family and it was so awkward because I was sooooo hot for Will Friedle lol

yurasama_love 9th-Dec-2012 04:14 am (UTC)
omg, My Date with the President's Daughter! I remember thinking it was terrible while I was watching it, but I loved it for Will Friedle anyway.

OMG How has no one mentioned the famous Jett Jackson?! That show was the best. I had such a huge crush on Lee Thompson Young.
fwee_prower 9th-Dec-2012 03:48 am (UTC)

and those movies do not need sequels.
gbeastly 9th-Dec-2012 03:48 am (UTC)
LOL @ Cadet Kelly

and ESPECIALLY LOL at "Christy Carlson Romano" which always sounded like a weirdly long and plain name to me. Like, could her three names be any more basic?
zoombinilover 9th-Dec-2012 03:54 am (UTC)
I get Christy Carlson Romano and Anne Hathaway mixed up sometimes. Here are my reasons.

1. Both were with Disney.
2. Both sing (Christy Carlson Romano was in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway -- I actually think that's my main confusion).
3. Ren Stevens. You know Anne Hathaway would've played that role in a heartbeat. Because I'm pretty sure Anne Hathaway IS Ren Stevens.

I missed part of the beginning of the Color of Friendship, and didn't know it was based on a true story, AND didn't realize it took place in the 70s until halfway through.

I know. I know.
twowaymirrrors 9th-Dec-2012 03:51 am (UTC)
AND didn't realize it took place in the 70s until halfway through.

And I was all YOU ARE 13, YOU ARE ALMOST AN ADULT.

13 year old me loved Disney shamelessly. That's when HSM came out.
saintclaire87 9th-Dec-2012 03:53 am (UTC)
Brink! :) I loved Zenon, Susie Q, Mom's Got A Date With A Vampire, The Color of Friendship, Under Wraps, Tower of Terror and etc. Phantom of the Megaplex was on back in October and it was the first time I've seen it since in years.

And speaking of Erik, I would love for a So Weird reunion. At last bring back Fi and give the show a better ending.
black_phoenix 9th-Dec-2012 03:54 am (UTC)
uhm WENDY WU?
brucelynn 9th-Dec-2012 03:57 am (UTC)

redaodai 9th-Dec-2012 03:55 am (UTC)
I didn't have cable as a kid or teen so I don't think I've seen most of these movies.
hypnology 9th-Dec-2012 03:56 am (UTC)

Loved Bug Juice! not ashamed to say that I still look online for episodes every now and again. And when that one popular girl with the short hair got sent home for having 'things' she wasn't supposed to?
