For a while there was this obviously mentally deranged homeless guy who kept trying to attack me at work. It was only me he had an issue with, and my bosses really didn't give a fuck. Whoever I would be working with would always call the police (I was always too shaken up) and they would never show up (gotta love the NYPD), and then one day they did and they were like "oh, that guy? He won't ACTUALLY hurt you." Mind you I'm a small, 5'3" girl and this was a massive 6'something homeless guy. COOL THANKS.

Eventually he stopped coming around.

probably the time a pedophile tried to abduct me and my little disabled sister when i was 8 :/ good thing i listened to my gut that told me something was up and i managed to get us the fuck outta there. i'll never forget it though.

A guy tried to break into our house once when I was in high school. Technically he was in the house at one point. It was like a two flat right so there were locked doors to either like apartment but there wasn't a lock to the basement which was where the washer and dryer were. I was doing laundry down there and just had the feeling that someone was watching me and almost went back into this other part of the basement just to check it out (it had swinging saloon type doors where you could see above and below it but if you turned right or left there was just wall and storage and stuff). I got to the doors and then decided not too because I have seen way too many horror movies. Turns out the guy had been down there and that's where he hid out until we went to bed (all of our shit was thrown about gone through and some was stolen too). The cops showed up and the guy took off but he had a knife because there were all these cuts around the doorknob and in the door frame.

Basically had I gone into that room I'm pretty sure I'd be dead.

The scariest thing probably would be being in the middle of a highway in a car smoking weed, surrounded by lighting and watching tornadoes form all around us. Creepiest was being followed home by a ghost and being awakened by violent bed shakings.
awkwardmumbles 9th-Dec-2012 12:56 am (UTC)
my friends and i were fucking around with a ouija board in high school and we had apparently reached some spirit who died and it was not too long after my grandpa died from colon cancer. so i asked either for proof or a specific question (i really cant remember anymore)and the spriit went to the letters A and W which are my grandpas initials. idk if my friends were fucking around or not but none of them knew about my grandpa. either way it was creepy at the time. he also said he died when he was a teenager and lived in my friends house before she moved in i guess. it would make sense cause my town is mostly old colonial houses that were built in the early part of the 20th century

When I was little (about 8 or so) I got separated from my sisters on our way back form the bathroom at a baseball game. I was freaking out and this guy came up to me acted like he was going to help me find my mom. Instead, he tried to take me out of the park. I ran as fast as my chubby little legs would take me and found my sisters. Of course, my big sister was more concerned with me not telling my mom what happened than the fact that I ALMOST GOT FUCKING KIDNAPPED!
atrum_silva 9th-Dec-2012 01:08 am (UTC)
Ok, so Gettysburg, Pennsylvania is one of the most haunted places on Earth. Me and my ex-girlfriend decided to go there a few summers ago and do some ghost hunting. We rented a room in one of the most haunted B&B's in the area and stayed in the (supposedly) most haunted room. Nothing happened in the room, but one night we were sitting on the porch of the B&B just talking and all of a sudden we heard someone, or something, pound on the side of the building. Keep in mind that it was midnight or so and no one was around. Not to mention this place was in the middle of nowhere. I swear to you guys, I have never moved so fast in my life. My girlfriend and I unlocked the front door and were in the foyer in seconds after the noise happened. It was so fucking scary.
coldharbourlove 9th-Dec-2012 01:35 am (UTC)
Flashback to high school, I was 17 years old. It was after school, I was walking home, the same path I took everyday and I noticed this guy standing on the corner (late 20's) staring at me, so I kept walking and he kept staring, so I started to walk faster and the motherfucker started to walk behind me. At this point I started to speed walk and he started to walk faster!! I turned the corner and started to RUN , he started to run, he finally caught up with me. I just stopped and said what?! he said " I watch you walk everyday and I notice your red glistening hair in the sun and today I finally go the courage to come up to you. I didn't mean to scare you, but I like you. Do you have an email address? I would like to send you poetry I have wrote about you, you're so pretty". I was freaking out, I told him no I don't have email (lie) and my dad was home and he gets mad when I'm home late (another lie). I was too scared to tell my dad, after that day I walked home another route the rest of the year and my big scary boyfriend walked me down that street looking to kick his ass haha CREEPER!!
luna_norvegese 9th-Dec-2012 01:37 am (UTC)
A few years back my family were on vacation in Italy, staying in this old mansion in the middle of nowhere. It's an old family house that's now being rented out, and it's got a lot of history, from WW2 in particular (at some point the nazis invited themselves to dinner, while the family were basically storing weapons and valuable items for the entire village, so they distracted the nazis with a baby, who's now the owner of the house). There are all these old photographs hanging on the walls, of old relatives, and all of the furniture is up towards a hundred years old. It's a little unsettling.

But there was one evening where I was alone in the house, while the others were at a fair-thing. I was lying in an old, creaky, iron-frame bed reading, and suddenly the entire thing starts shaking. And the house is so old, and the ceiling was so full of cracks that I ran outside, thinking it would just collapse, which, of course, didn't happen.

It turned out to be an earthquake, but I swear, for a split second of craziness I was completely sure that it was a ghost that wanted me out of there. It was terrifying.

probs the creeper who tried to attack me on my way from work. i still think about it, it's made me really paranoid about travelling by myself at night.
shining_starsxx 9th-Dec-2012 01:52 am (UTC)
Sleep paralysis.
emeraldus 9th-Dec-2012 02:01 am (UTC)
Scariest thing I've had happen to me was when I was a teenager. This guy called the house two separate times, I'm pretty sure he was asking for me by name, and told me he was going to come to my house and rape me. Don't remember how it ended the first time but the second time he called, I got this weird feeling about him and refused to take the phone from my brother but he kept insisting, saying it was some guy my mom knew from work. Second time freaked me out the most, 'cause after scaring me and wanting to know what I was wearing, he hangs up all of a sudden and I was so sure it meant he was going to come to the house that I called the police. In retrospect I'm pretty sure someone must have come home where he was at, and he had to hang up real fast. Never did get another call from him.
brozio 9th-Dec-2012 02:08 am (UTC)
When I was a freshman in high school my dad would drive me to school on his way to work every morning, however this particular morning scared the shit out of me. While he was driving someone cut my dad off so he honked at him. This guy swerves out and into the lane next to us rolls down his window screaming at my dad for honking at him. He then starts to try and swerve into the side of the car, stopping in the middle of traffic to try and hit us, all the while screaming out of his window at us. This went on for the longest time. My dad took it so calmly but I was freaking out. I just remembered that when the man saw me writing down his license plate number he finally gave up and sped away.
war_machine_rox 9th-Dec-2012 02:33 am (UTC)
When my roommate and I moved into our new house, which I swear is haunted, I experienced sleep paralysis for the first time.

I was in my bed taking a nap after work and it felt like I woke up to someone sneaking into my room, then I felt my covers start wrapping around my neck like someone was choking me. I couldn't move or think. It was awful. I haven't napped in my room since.

thetxbelle 9th-Dec-2012 03:05 am (UTC)
One night I went pee and could hear a weird little sound in the light above me like something was rustling around so I finished and got up really quickly, right as I did a HUGE cockroach fell into the toilet WHERE I HAD JUST BEEN SITTING D:

It's been years and I still hesitate to pee in the middle of the night.
milkradio 9th-Dec-2012 05:11 am (UTC)
Touring the closes in Edinburgh, maybe. It is DARK down there, holy shit. I wasn't scared of ghosts or anything, I was more scared of being separated from the group and being left down there in the pitch black D:
milkradio 9th-Dec-2012 05:17 am (UTC)
Oh and this guy in my dorm who had boundary issues. I thought he was a friendly guy at first, so I let him borrow some DVDs and junk, but then he got creepier and creepier. We all used to leave our doors open to be ~social~, but the accepted etiquette is to knock and say hi first whereas he would just waltz right in unannounced when I was at my desk facing away from the door and be all creepy and rude and I was like "WTF at least say something before you're right behind me..." and then he would "conveniently" come out of his room right whenever I'd walk by and he used to jump out of the shadows in the evenings outside our building when I would go to the dining hall or lounge to meet my friends and he'd keep trying to push his way into my plans and I was CLEARLY giving him lots of reasons/excuses to go by myself and ugh he was just so creepy, idk how to explain it. He also used to lean in really close to me and whisper in my ear (and not like a regular whisper, but like... creepy...) during floor meetings and I shit you not I would jump like a foot in the air because he would be behind me and I didn't know he was there and ugh it was just really unsettling all the time. I ended up closing my door 24/7 and was a huge loner then to everyone else on my floor who all assumed I was antisocial and then I would make note of when he had class so I could avoid him in the halls and I wouldn't use the common room and I started buying groceries to keep in my room so I wouldn't have to go to the dining hall as much... ugh. He really made me so uncomfortable.
mai_shiranui 9th-Dec-2012 10:28 am (UTC)
When I was working at a center for people with mental problems, one of the schizo druggies was sort of stalking me. He told me once that he was standing in the hall of the apartment complex where I lived and that he was trying to figure out what my last name so that he could "drop by". After telling me that he asked me "Sooooo... what's your last name?" He and a friend would sit on a bench near there smoking pot and would wait for me to come out.

I've since moved and ran into him a while back and he tried to follow me home whilst trying to keep a safe distance thinking I wouldn't notice.

That's not that creepy to be honest, but his best friend did things that were a lot worse to a co-worker of mine (like staring into her house and giving very detailed descriptions of what she'd been doing that night) and I always had suspicions that he did similar things when he had a crush on me.

When I was 19 my mom and I were home alone when this guy came to our front door claiming to be from our cable company. He said that he was there to check the line. I got suspicious and told him to hold on, called the cable company who said they never sent anyone over. The CSR then told me to hang up and call the police. When I went back to the front door to make sure the double lock was on the guy was gone. Pretty sure he was either casing us or about to force his way in.

autumn1234 9th-Dec-2012 12:50 am (UTC)
I love and respect the original, but I've always found it extremely boring and the ending to be sort of bland :x Probably an unpopular opinion, but I can't help it! Idk what it is!
naveedchick 9th-Dec-2012 01:08 am (UTC)
They have that quote on a loop on the dvd I have. I fall asleep watching movies/tv and one night, it was Carrie. I ended up being startled awake by "They're all gonna laugh at you!"

That fucker with the long hair. Did he not see the warning that said "Dont say it...etc etc"? Omw, that was not a suggestion. That guy annoys me every effing time I see this trailer.

That said, I kind of want to see this.

ohbubbajoan 9th-Dec-2012 12:34 am (UTC)
is it that movie where an evil!tree rape a girl?
one of my 6th grade teachers thought it was a good idea show this movie for my class. i don't even care i'm a grown woman who love horror movies, i still way too traumatized for this. forever on my NO list.
ohbubbajoan 9th-Dec-2012 12:40 am (UTC)
you tell me.
1337nik 9th-Dec-2012 01:12 am (UTC)
Why would your teacher show you evil dead in class? Was it Halloween? Even then, it seems like a weird pick. Maybe because I went to Catholic school, they warned us beforehand if there was swearing.

Of course then we watched Shawshank so maybe teachers everywhere are fucked.
redglare 9th-Dec-2012 01:14 am (UTC)
sixth grade me would have peed myself tbh ): your teacher was WAY out of line

and, yeah, the original evil dead has a tree rape scene. i thought that most people involved regretted it but apparently it's gonna be in the remake?
milkradio 9th-Dec-2012 05:19 am (UTC)
That's fucked up and I say this as a person whose teachers showed plenty of ~racy~ movies based on lit we were reading.

Though how the fuck I missed the fucking circle blades coming out of his head is completely beyond me. Idek, man. That was a weird moment.

night of the living dead the original

add Zombieland to this list and that would be my picks as well.
minds_been_lost 9th-Dec-2012 12:43 am (UTC)
Although they're comedic in nature, I adore Shaun of the Dead, Doghouse, and Zombieland.

28 Days Later, Dawn of the Dead (either one, or both), Night of the Living Dead (I personally prefer the remake), and Return of the Living Dead are awesome. I even like the first Resident Evil, but the others are trash, and they have less and less zombies in them as they go on.

Dead Snow and The Horde are also fabulous, but they have subtitles. I dunno if that would bother you or not.

Fido is a nice little spin on the genre.
redglare 9th-Dec-2012 01:20 am (UTC)
dead snow, the crazies (either the original or remake, they're equally good to me), pontypool (not traditional zombies but a really interesting spin on them), the [rec] series
rewrittentime 9th-Dec-2012 02:38 am (UTC)
dawn of the dead, 28 days later, shaun of the dead, day of the dead, planet terror (it's VILE but fantastic), the serpent and the rainbow, night of the living dead, reanimator
underdog_ontop 9th-Dec-2012 02:38 am (UTC)
28 days later and i am legend give me nightmares so i would recommend those too.

and if you're down with tv shows the walking dead of course.
imsweetgetsome 9th-Dec-2012 04:55 am (UTC)
What kind of zombie movie are we talking about?

For regular, good zombie movies: Night of the Living Dead (original), Dawn of the Dead (original), Day of the Dead (original), Diary of the Dead.

For fun: Shaun of the Dead, Dead and Breakfast, Fido

Kind of Zombie movies but not technical zombie movies: 28 Days Later, 28 Weeks Later, Slither

Shitty but entertaining: Any Resident Evil movie, especially the first three.

Most remakes of Romero films are pretty crappy if you ask me. The remake of Night of the Living Dead is decent, though and the remake of Dawn of the Dead is crappy if you ask me but good for the gore factor.

Also, if you really want to get into it, The Walking Dead really is fantastic.

I'll be seriously disappointed if there's no camp at all in Evil Dead. That's what made me love the old movies in the first place.

What they should do is to make a movie version of the musical! That would be flawless and amazing.
deadendqueen16 9th-Dec-2012 12:47 am (UTC)
So let me get this straight...you're in a creepy, deserted cabin. There's blood on the floor and dead animals hanging from the basement ceiling. You find a weird book with notes specifically telling you not to read or copy ANYTHING out of said book, yet you do exactly that.

nothing will ever beat the way the camera moved quickly through the woods in the original Evil Dead. that was one of the creepiest parts to me, the way the camera followed behind the car, and the angle from the swing; just so creepy.

also I was trying to explain to my friends what creepy pasta was, and one of them said "is that like spooky noodles?" and now they can't stop saying 'spooky noodles'. i felt like ontd would appreciate that term.
anydoppelganger 9th-Dec-2012 12:52 am (UTC)
lmfao spooky noodles. that's so adorable. I want to use that from now on.
autumn1234 9th-Dec-2012 12:54 am (UTC)

But I see what you mean with the angles and such. People underestimate how important those things are imo. A few years back I decided to start playing Silent Hill on ps2 alone, instead of just watching friends play it, and I hate the controls. I asked my sister if they get any better(since it's now on Xbox and shit) and she said they're still fucky, and that it's part of what adds to it all. The lack/difficultly of control, it makes it so much scarier and intense.
slut_talk 9th-Dec-2012 01:03 am (UTC)
Shit, the trailer was SO much scarier than the movie. The camera angles and movement was the really only scary part imo. It was just really unsettling.

I feel like the fact that I downloaded the musical's soundtrack and got really into it, will kind of ruin it for me.
Just from the trailer, as soon as the guy said Kandarian demon I had "All the men in my life keep getting killed by Kandarian demons" song stuck in my head.

That Musical is flawless.
