'The Walking Dead: The Game' takes top honors at Spike VGAs



11:09PM EST December 7. 2012 - The Walking Dead: The Game dominated the Spike TV Video Game Awards on Friday, snagging five awards including Game of the Year.

The downloadable title from episodic adventure game pioneers Telltale Games also earned Studio of the Year. The Walking Dead is a five-part digital title based on the hit comic book franchise. It stars Lee Everett, a convict headed to prison who experiences a significant turn of fortune amid a zombie apocalypse.

Melissa Hutchinson, the actress who voiced the character Clementine in the game, won the award for Best Performance by a Human Female, beating out Jennifer Hale for Mass Effect 3, Jen Taylor for Halo 4, and Emma Stone for Sleeping Dogs.

Open-world, first-person shooter Borderlands 2 wasn't far behind, bringing home four awards including Best Shooter and Best Multiplayer. The Sony PlayStation 3 download Journey also finished strong, earning three awards including Best Independent Game.

It was originally released in 'episodes' as digital downloads for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 systems. They are making a retail version.

It's a downloadable game where you make choices that affect how the story plays out, like someone living if you make one choice or dying if you make another.

beautiful, sad, epic and wonderful game. clementine is so sweet! and lee ended up winning me over too! i hope more games like this get produced, i really liked the format and the care put into the storytelling.

Telltale Games is so... odd. I mean, their career so far has largely consisted of gaining the rights to make games out of famous franchises and mostly doing a piss-poor job at all of them. So it's so bizarre that they suddenly hit such an enormous amount of success with the particular franchise they're leaching off right now.

(I know they had mild success with Sam & Max, but still. It always kinda feels like they aren't doing anything of their own, since the universes/cultures they're using were already created by someone else.)

And ew why was Emma Stone nommed for Sleeping Dogs? She was in the game for all of 10 minutes or less. Why do they have to focus on the ONE white girl in the game when there's other flawless Chinese characters ugggh

pretty much cause she's a celeb. a lot of the other VAs in that game were way better than her.
