Ok I was joking when I made my previous comment, but look at an actual post I found in the Tom Branson tag:
"No. No. It doesn’t make sense for Tom to have a love interest. I said, when Sybil first passed that the final straw for me stopping watching Downton would be Tom being with someone else. And you cannot call me a bad fan. Tom is and has always been one of my favorite characters. I want his happiness more than anything in the world but I do not believe it is going to come in the form of a woman. His chance at that type of happiness was ruined when Sybil died. He can have happiness with his daughter and with a job and with being accepted into the family…but all FOR SYBIL. He is not the man to find this any other way. Do not tell me that this kid waits FIVE FUCKING YEARS FOR A KISS and then his wife dies and he moves on? Even if it’s not Edna, with anyone, it does not make sense for the character. I understand things change and that the death has changed him, but if anything, I think it will make him more passionate about his daughter. I think it was so clear how in love he was with Sybil from the time he first drove her to Ripon with her mother and her sisters to when she took her last breath. HE FUCKING LOVES HER. HE HAS ALWAYS FUCKING LOVED HER. AND HE WILL CONTINUE TO LOVE HER. I’m sorry but if this storyline or any like it actually happen, I’m done."
