that's because it IS exploitative. the director didn't even consult the real victim or ask for her permission. she didn't know a movie was being made until it had been submitted to sundance IIRC. so fucked up. i've heard good things about ann dowd's performance but i wish people would stop buzzing this movie because really it's despicable
