I finally caught up on my reading list when I lost power for over a week thanks to Hurricane Sandy, and the best book I read was The Passage, by Justin Cronin. It's the first book in the Passage trilogy. The Twelve, which came out this year, wasn't as good though, IMO. But it's still worth the read. I can't wait for the last book.
I tried to read 52 books this year and was so on track for the first four months until I had to pick up a second job and then had no time. But I will have managed to read 26+ by years end. I'm currently reading The Silver Linings Playbook. I re-read the first 4 Harry Potter's this year (Y), 5 People You Meet In Heaven (N), The Hunger Games trilogy (Y), Nightlight~a Twilight Parody (N), Perks of Being a Wallflower (Y), A Long Way Down (N), Seriously...I'm Kidding (N), Snuff (N), A Stolen Life (Y), Still Alice (?), Is Everybody Hanging Out Without Me? (Y), Heart of the Matter (Y), Looking for Alaska (N), Dancing Naked (Y), Girl Walks Into A Bar (Y), 13 reasons why (Y) & Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk (N).
aw, I'm not familiar with the novel/story (obv I know the ending and the premise) but I had heard that they were putting in very little Levin. I watched the movie with this in mind and it actually seemed like a decent amount.
or maybe I loved his part of the story so much that I treasured every second of it, ha.
I've heard of a few of these but I haven't read any. sometimes it's hard bc I'll recognize covers a lot easier since I'm at the bookstore browsing all the time but not necessarily the title.
OOH I ACTUALLY HAVE 'THE YELLOW BIRDS' FROM THE LIBRARY TODAY. so, I'm starting that.
I read a Zadie Smith's "white teeth" book once and wanted to beat myself to death with it afterwards for sticking with it, it was so over-long and so fucking dull and boring.
I probably could have met my goal if I hadn't chosen to read so many LONG ASS BOOKS this year. ;___;
whoops. wasn't expecting to go on vacation all summer and basically not read.
Neat
On the flip side, I've been doing fantastically with Fables. I'm on vol. 10 rn.
That being said, I've never been able to finish the book...I always get stuck about 150 pages from the end lol.
