Tragedy As Receptionist Who Connected Kate Middleton Prank Callers Commits Suicide

The prank phone call saga in which two Australian DJs impersonated the queen and got connected to a nurse looking after Kate Middleton took a tragic turn today after the receptionist who put the call through reportedly committed suicide.

The Daily Mail is reporting that a receptionist at the private King Edward hospital which treated the Duchess of Cambridge was found at an address yards away from King Edward VII Hospital, where she worked, just before 9.30am yesterday.

The King Edward VII Hospital released a statement which said: "It is with very deep sadness that we confirm the tragic death of a member of our nursing staff, Jacintha Saldanha.

"Jacintha has worked at the King Edward VII's Hospital for more than four years. She was an excellent nurse and well-respected and popular with all of her colleagues.

"We can confirm that Jacintha was recently the victim of a hoax call to the hospital. The hospital had been supporting her throughout this difficult time."

The prank call was deeply embarrassing for the hospital, which is the medical institution of choice for the Royal Family.

Sky News Correspondent, Tom Parmenter, at King Edward VII Hospital, said that staff there had been trying to support Miss Saldanha in the wake of the hoax call.

I read that the tabloids/media were trying to make it seem like they were furious but Prince Charles was joking about it and teasing reporters who were asking about Kate's condition? I don't know.

the worst part about this is that these dudes are (probably) not going to lose their jobs because this is undoubtedly garnering a HUGE boost in listeners for the station, even internationally. I guarantee you their followers have skyrocketed, even if half the followers are only listening because they hate them and are mad :\

Nah, everyone in Australia is livid. Like this article mentions, the whole radio show is absolutely effed up and does awful things. It's 3am in Australia now, but I'd expect that the second people at the radio station are up, the djs, the producers, and anyone else involved in this stunt have lost their jobs.

really?? idk, I can't say I have too much insight into it but my bff works in radio and from what she's told me about the culture (at least in america), the more attention you garner, the more likely you are to survive. even if the attention is crappy attention

I just read this and was about to post it. This is fucking awful. People need to realize that there are consequences for their actions. Apparently the station is releasing a statement soon.
