I think that sexism in Game of Thrones is a lot more complex than this article makes it out to be.

Yes, Westeros is a rather patriarchal soceity, but then you have societies like the wildlings, Dorne and various places in Essos that are different. None of them are really completely egalitarian, but yeah.

I think we're definitely meant to be critical of the patriarchal society in Westeros, but no, the series isn't a feminist manifesto against the patriarchy and there aren't many people directly challenging it.

But I do think that there is a huge variety in the female characters in ASOIAF and that is actually something that is really important to me.
