Bryan Singer Tweets Screenplay: New "X-Men: Days Of Future Past" Movie Villain Revealed?

"X-Men: Days of Future Past" spoilers are truly few and far between as new excitement begins to build for the next installment in the mutant movie fanchise. In spite of the surge in genuine interest from comic book geek and regular person alike, all anyone has had grounds to talk about have been both changes in the production team (in specific, the swapping of ingenue Matthew Vaughan for X-Men movie master, Bryan Singer); as well as new (old) additions to the next film's cast like Hugh Jackman, Sir Ian McKellan, and Patrick Stewart all reprising their roles as Wolverine, Magneto, and Professor Xavier, respectively. Though these breaking stories have given us a lot to hope for, no one hungry for "Days of Future Past" news could really certain about much else. But tomorrow morning, the headlines will read: "Bryan Singer tweets screenplay," and based on what we can discern from the new leaked photo on the director's Twitter, everything we know about the X-Men could be about to change.

We don't take new "X-Men: Days of Future Past" spoilers lightly, nor do we ignore your potential aversion to them and their affect on your movie watching experience. If you're not looking to have anything-- even the slightest, most minuscule detail-- spoiled for you, you may want to look away now. But if you're looking for just the tiniest morsel of "X-Men: Days of Future Past," news, then click here to see the photo leaked from Bryan Singer's tweets of screenplay. It may not look like there's much information there, but based on what Bryan Singer has shared with us from his Twitter, we now have brand-new, exciting information from which we can build our theories of the movie. And especially considering the nature of the man quoted in the tweet, we can now draw new conclusions about the thematic concerns of the movie.

In this most mighty of new "X-Men: Days of Future Past" spoilers, Bryan Singer tweets: "settling down for my 14 hour flight with [the screenplay]. Let's hope I don't leave it in the plane." He follows the twitter entry to a link of a picture of Bryan Singer holding the screenplay. On it, we can clearly see the leading page of it, which features the following quote from Charles Darwin's Origin of the Species:

"As new species are formed through natural evolution, others will become rarer and rarer, and finally extinct. The forms which stand in closest competition with those undergoing modification and improvement will naturally suffer most."

How's that for a couple of "X-Men: Days of Future Past" spoilers? It may not seem like it contains much information, but it does. Bryan Singer's tweets of screenplay do go a long way to reveal some key information about the next mutant film's narrative-- but perhaps the most compelling of the information is that the new villain of the new "X-Men: Days of Future Past" movie is we, the non-superpowered people. Based on the framework of the quote, fans of the franchise could expect to see a world where normal, powerless humans begin to panic from the fear that they will soon be replaced by their more gifted progeny. But unlike other movies, which saw Magneto, Nazis, and the Extreme Conservative Right as the heroes, our own fears about the future of our nation and its people could be implicated in the villainy of this film. It could be that this exact giftedness that leads to human beings rising up and electing leaders who promise protection from the mutants.

This leaked photo of the screenplay could reveal that the upcoming film will have more of an emphasis on how humans are reacting to the advent of mutants, and what they plan to do in the face of superhero teams like the X-Men who, frankly, aren't like them. Given Bryan Singer's smarter approach to his screenplays, we may even see the psychological framework of what it means to "be replaced" being played out. Unlike the comics, which jump right into dystopia, this screenplay photo tweet could mean that the director/writer will be giving us the buildup that we need-- perhaps through flashback, perhaps not-- to see how our world made the decision it made and ended up in the "X-Men: Days of Future Past."

Not looking forward to seeing James and Michael as Charles and Xavier because lbr, Patrick and Ian forever. I'm still waiting for them to cast Maggie Q as Psylocke.

Were Anya and his wife in it? Because the absolute bastardization of Magneto's past/reason for hating all humans was what made me hate First Class.

ugh YES his family was in it. a lot of it was similar to XMFC but they go into detail about him having a life/kids/family/being happy & THEN everything falls apart. he meets charles (if i remember correctly) at some sort of conference thing.

also there's about as much erik/charles subtlety as there was in FC

AW!
I'm so bitter by how much they changed Magneto's backstory because I want Anya, Wanda, Pietro, and Lorna to exist.

i've been waiting for a wanda & pietro storyline. :(

Wanda is one of my favorites, and we'll probably never get her in X-Men or Avengers. :(

Won't happen. Wanda and Pietro are owned by Marvel. Marvel Movies might use them, just not mention who their father is - because Magneto is owned by Fox. These characters won't ever be in one movie together as long as the rights are owned by different companies.

I mean theres nothing in XMFC that says they can't. I mean theres a large gap of time between the end of WW2 and the start of that movie its like at least a decade. That's long enough to meet Magda, have kids and her die.

Hell in a really fucked up way to make it "canon" he could have escaped from Shaw before the end of the war, meet Magda, fall in love, have kids, be found by left over Nazi's, have to defend himself and then Madga do the whole running away thing which is why he'd be bitter to both Nazi's and humanity.

Just saying.
