Mattel Honors Elizabeth Taylor with Barbie

It seems like everyone is paying homage to the late, great actress Elizabeth Taylor.

Mattel has created a special collectors edition Elizabeth Taylor White Diamonds Barbie doll in honor of the star's iconic beauty and her contribution to AIDS research.

The doll comes with Taylor's mane of raven-black hair, violet eyes and a pretty white dress, reminiscent of the one she wore in the 1958 film "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof." There's a reason the doll bears an uncanny resemblance to the actress. "Magnificently created to capture every detail of her unique beauty, the face sculpt was reviewed and approved by Miss Taylor herself," according to BarbieCollector, the offical site that sells the collectible dolls.

A bright red AIDS ribbon comes pinned to the dress to honor her devotion to raising awareness for HIV/AIDS in her lifetime.

The $150 doll is named for the star's signature perfume -- and for her legendary love of jewelry. The Barbie wears gold jewelry, a delicate pair of white gloves and a pair of white strappy heels. It also comes with a pair of white sunglasses, a replica bottle of her White Diamonds fragrance and a movie script.

I felt this was appropriate being that it is World AIDS day. I hope everyone can channel their inner Elizabeth and find a way to take part in spreading knowledge and awareness.
