Mellie seemed to be acting really weird in the car so maybe she felt or knew something was going to happen.
While Hollis makes sense to me, it doesn't really do anything for him if Fitz is dead unless he thinks he would/could have some influence with Sally Langston, which seems like a stretch.

I think Mellie knew what was going to happen. The scene in the car might be a red herring, but there were other clues. Like her being the one planning this whole gala, her throwaway line at the beginning about thinking Fitz was dead and how ~a girl can dream.
I dont think Hollis pulled the trigger himself but I definitely think he had some kind of involvement... I wonder if it'll be a person we haven't even seen yet or someone we 'know'
I wonder if its the Billy Chambers guy bc they never really said he was taken care of, I assumed that Charlie guy took care of him but I'm not sure.
Yeah, I liked the little interactions between Harrison/Abby, Huck/Quinn but Olivia and senator snorefest and president creeps-a-lot were such a yawn. As was James actually.

But he didn't. He actually didn't want the surveillance on her anymore but his SS did it anyway cause they weren't informed they should've stopped. That was stated flat out in the scene, so it wasn't where he was intentionally spying on Liv & Edison. He did end up looking at the pictures since he had them but it didn't seem like something he enjoyed seeing.
Fitz has many flaws without creating ones that aren't based on what was actually shown to the audience regarding his intentions/motivations.
I'm a shipper but damn Shonda's making it hard for us. Fitz has been SO frustrating. Like, he's full on obsessed with her, it's really alarming. I'm going to hope that the stress of not doing anything and letting his wife and chief of staff run the country is getting to him and he's not normally like this and also he'll work his shit out before he crosses anymore boundaries.
