Carly Rae Jepsen Is Flattered When Told She Has A Baby Face

Carly Rae Jepsen doesn’t understand why people think she’s young as she sees “the years attached to her face”.

The 27-year-old Canadian singer is often amazed when people presume she is in her early twenties. She tries to be flattered when she is told she has a baby face, although she can’t understand the comment.

“If people think I look younger, then that’s great; I’m stoked,” she told Cosmopolitan. “But I turned 27 in November, and when I look in the mirror, I see all of the years attached to that face, and I’m content with me.”

Carly understands part of the problem is that she favours fun and flirty clothes. She insists she has a different take on fashion when she is out of the spotlight; although she makes no plans to let people see her chic side.

“I love being classy and as elegant as possible in my apartment. But when I’m onstage, I can’t dance in four-inch heels, so I’ll generally sport flats. I’m 5-foot-2, so yeah, I’m going to look a little bit more playful. But I don’t think that means I’m trying for an age younger than I am,” she insisted.

x_brittacular 30th-Nov-2012 03:25 am (UTC)
I still shop in the juniors section at Kohl's and have been told I look at least 16. Not even mad.

k i don't get why ppl trip over someone saying they're in their 20s and still pass for teens

like what's bad about this it happens all the time
magwildwood 30th-Nov-2012 03:27 am (UTC)
because people say it in pretty much every post that is somewhat related. it gets old lol
manaconda 30th-Nov-2012 03:31 am (UTC)
lol exactly. and i think most people in their early 20's can pass as teens, so it's really not worth pointing out. and people older than that are probably the types that think getting carded because it's the law = omg i look like a fetus
pamuya 30th-Nov-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
only thing i can think of is getting hit on by teenagers? lol idk
kurtvonnegut 30th-Nov-2012 03:29 am (UTC)
to me it's because people use the fact that they got carded as proof when anyone who has sold liquor/worked the door knows that the #1 rule is to card anyone who looks under 30, some places 40, other places everyone.
soul_amazinn 30th-Nov-2012 03:36 am (UTC)
Because most people here are in their early 20s? I assume.
They talk as if they're like 35 and get mistaken for a 16 year old. Most 20 somethings still have a baby face. It's silly.
tucker 30th-Nov-2012 03:54 am (UTC)
"it happens all the time"

that's why, it's a common thing so for people to act all special about it (not saying you! but people really do go overboard with it) is annoying
bee_xx3 30th-Nov-2012 04:15 am (UTC)
lol ia. But it seems everyone is relating it back to alcohol and my mind went immediately to people just being displeased with their general appearance and wanting to vent.
lumosofmylife 30th-Nov-2012 04:18 am (UTC)
They just wish they didn't look so old and haggard tbh.
rhapsodeeinblue 30th-Nov-2012 04:26 am (UTC)
ikr what is going on in this post
supermishelle 30th-Nov-2012 04:29 am (UTC)
I think it happens to everyone sometime. But this one time it happened to me it really annoyed me because this guy legit tried to argue with me over what my age was and tried to id me and I wasn't trying to buy liquor or anything. I was just hanging outside with a friend and he was passing by.
iamtheliquorr 30th-Nov-2012 05:10 am (UTC)
this post is looking like one of those posts where the first few pages get flooded with "in b4 wank" comments and then very little wank actually appears

other than the threads complaining, i've actually seen very few comments like "oh i have a baby face" or w/e
onyxobsidian 30th-Nov-2012 03:26 am (UTC)
So I'm a bartender now, so I ID people on the regular. But when I was 19, I worked in a porn store so we just had to card people to be 18+.

It was SOOOO frustrating. "omg they want to see my ID!? omigod!" So much worse than carding for alcohol, because I guess it's a little less expected.
Then I'd get so many guys with their younger girlfriends who would be like, "Nah, dude. She's with me." And I'm like, "Ok.. so let's see her ID." "Nah, dude. It's coo." "Ok, you both leave then."

Ridiculous.
onyxobsidian 30th-Nov-2012 03:26 am (UTC)
Or, "I have a college ID -- you have to be 18 to be in college!"
pamuya 30th-Nov-2012 03:27 am (UTC)
lol i know plenty of 17 y/os in college
magwildwood 30th-Nov-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
haha i used that line to get into a club when i was 17 and in college. it worked though
viakyusu 30th-Nov-2012 03:31 am (UTC)
I have some high schoolers in my classes now...met a 16 year old that almost jail-bait me lmao
rogue 30th-Nov-2012 03:35 am (UTC)
LOL "ok u can both leave then"

you're that sassy ass employee we would have glaring contests on the regular t b h
moustacherider 30th-Nov-2012 03:27 am (UTC)
lmao I unintentionally insulted my boss one time cause he was refused entry at a strip club. He didn't have id or something like that and I said 'but you look WAY older than 18!'
viakyusu 30th-Nov-2012 03:28 am (UTC)
Can't us, baby-faces, have our "blessing and a curse," moment SHIT! This is once in a blue moon post that will allow us to shine!

(Other day, someone said I should go audition for these Disney channel auditions. I don't know if she was being a smartass but I took it as a compliment. Bitter hag lmao)
rogue 30th-Nov-2012 03:36 am (UTC)
right? i'm 21 and look 12-15. i have ALWAYS wanted a strong jawline so i can be ~sophisticated~ looking like olivia wilde. but i'm forever round faced with cheeks and short.

it's actually quite a curse when you want to be the ~hot one.
croutonochrist 30th-Nov-2012 03:48 am (UTC)
Ah yes, always the cute one, never the hot one. :/
sastra_fuss 30th-Nov-2012 03:28 am (UTC)

evett 30th-Nov-2012 03:30 am (UTC)
Same age and people think I'm 16 but I don't take this as a compliment. I think it is code word for "wow you dress/look like a teenager (ie like shit) instead of a put together 27 year old.
thishollywood 30th-Nov-2012 03:37 am (UTC)
This is the best shade I've seen in a while.

Dyin rn
moustacherider 30th-Nov-2012 03:59 am (UTC)
A+
ohloverx 30th-Nov-2012 05:28 am (UTC)
Hah! Same here, and I'm never sure how to take it until after I reveal my age. Then I can tell if someone thinks I look young because of my face, and they're truly being complimentary, or because of my overall look that day, and they're giving serious shade.
notebook_attire 30th-Nov-2012 07:10 am (UTC)
yeah, that's what i meant when i said my boyfriend's 23 year old lab mate looks like high school aged person. really bad clothing choices.
bent_ley 30th-Nov-2012 03:31 am (UTC)
i swear i look just like stacey dash
onyxobsidian 30th-Nov-2012 04:09 am (UTC)
you too?
georgie_georgie 30th-Nov-2012 03:32 am (UTC)
I don't give a fuck. I love freaking out new students on the first day of class. I show up a couple of minutes before class starts and just walk right up to my desk. Their reactions are hilarious. haha.
pamuya 30th-Nov-2012 03:33 am (UTC)
what do they think ur a student?
georgie_georgie 30th-Nov-2012 03:38 am (UTC)
Yes. and it surprised me too. I teach foreign languages at the college level. And I do dress business casual. For next semester the department gave us fancy metal name tags, so I'll definitely be wearing it for the first week.
croutonochrist 30th-Nov-2012 03:51 am (UTC)
I was walking through the crowded hallway in high school one time and this tiny person in front of me was walking so slow. I kind of muttered something shitty and rude under my breath and she was all "Oh, I'm sorry" in a small voice and moved out of the way. That's when I noticed she was a teacher. And I felt terrible.
for_serious13 30th-Nov-2012 04:11 am (UTC)
haha my sister is PA, and she wears her lab coat ALL THE TIME even though its not mandatory in her office. When she started out and didn't wear it on the first day, the whole day her patients were like ARE YOU OLD ENOUGH!? OMG i thought you were front office staff, not the PA! She's 29 and hates it for work, but loves it otherwise

ragechill 30th-Nov-2012 03:33 am (UTC)
ONTD is so weird sometimes. LOL.
onyxobsidian 30th-Nov-2012 03:34 am (UTC)
4 all of u who want the secrets to looking young, look no further than Home Depot

alkalinecupcake 30th-Nov-2012 03:34 am (UTC)
i always get really confused when people say "you don't look your age". so how are 20-30-40 year olds supposed to look like?

anyway, i read the title as Carly Rae Jepson is flattened when told she has a baby face, and I was like, that's an over-reaction.
pamuya 30th-Nov-2012 03:35 am (UTC)
i also am sorta confused as how certain ages should look like

20s-30s looks p much the same to me idk
