'Emily Owens' cancelled by CW

Not a good news day for medical shows.

First Fox decided to not pick up The Mob Doctor for a full season. Now The CW has ruled it will not continue with Emily Owens M.D..

The network will still air all 13 episodes from the original order of the Mamie Gummer dramedy, but that’s it.

The news was expected given the show’s ratings; Emily Owens has been shedding its Hart of Dixie lead in on Tuesday nights this fall. Last night’s episode had only 1 million viewers and a 0.3 rating among adults 18-49. Also, The CW had previously given full-season orders to its two other new dramas, Arrow and Beauty and the Beast.

Next for The CW: Sex and the City prequel series The Carrie Diaries coming Jan. 14.

It was a cute show, but the ratings were awful. Sucks nonetheless.

I didn't realize this was a "The Mindy Project" post~

not that i expect shows in medical settings to be all that accurate, but the mindy project comes way closer to the actual dynamic in a physician practice than emily owens does to the dynamic in a hospital setting, the doctors do not think of themselves as being in high school by a long ass shot. also the mindy project dares to have the doctors actually date outside of the workplace

TMP is a romcom, is this other show supposed to be serious?

Still, it would be interesting if Mindy actually gave a shit about her career.

tmp isn't a show about her career, though, so it doesnt just focus on her career.

As much as I enjoy The Mindy Project, I feel it is a far stretch from reality in working at a private practice. She doesn't do shit... like, ever. Hell, she took half the day off to go meet that young girl's boyfriend. Ain't nobody that time for that.

I was annoyed by the "high school" drama of the Emily Owens show, but I still felt it was far more realistic in terms of presenting situations and difficulties that people in healthcare may come to face. Then again, one is a comedy and the other is a drama.
