I mean I know that she's vilified b/c it's perceived that she broke up The Beatles, but some of her art and music (especially Approximately Infinite Universe) is criminally underrated, and I think she is treated incredibly unfairly.

it's not a story tbh, it's just a fact that yoko (AND john) basically tried to pretend julian didn't exist. that's what the song "hey jude" is about - paul trying to comfort julian about how john and yoko were treating him. john tried to erase his first family and replace them with yoko and sean. julian has spoken out about it a lot (google tbh) and the fact that it's been a well known issue since the beatles were current and julian was a child proves that it's not something julian is making up for attention. there aren't exactly TMZ articles about it, i'm just a beatles aficionado and have read a lot of their history/biographies and it's just well known that john and yoko neglected julian. typical dad and stepmom basking in their new family and forgetting the "broken" one. i hate john more tbh but that doesn't mean yoko is a saint, but she bought into it and participated/encouraged it.

She wasn't nice to John's son Julian. When John died, Julian got very little and what he did get, he had to go to court for. He's had to buy his father's guitars at auction because Yoko wouldn't let him have any of his father's possessions.

She's also been pretty nasty to Paul over the years, saying he's untalented and was jealous of John. They didn't get along, though that in itself didn't break up the band.

I don't believe that you really think that's why Joe Bloggs has a ill feelings toward Yoko Ono. You may know this, but the reality is that most people who speak negatively on Yoko don't.

people need to know. turning yoko into a victim is so problematic and infuriating. plus, no one actually believes she broke up the beatles anymore except for people who don't know anything about them.

I mean, Lennon was arguably a worse person--he behaved much the same and it was, after all, his child--but not even his most devoted detractors try to claim that negates his artistic contributions to the world. Just because Yoko is not the nicest person doesn't mean she deserves to have her artistic identity maligned.

She was partially famous before she got with Lennon, though. She's been a prominent figure in the avant-garde movement in Japan for a long time.
