BBC keeps with tradition, releases horribly photoshopped Doctor Who promo

The newest promotional poster for this year's Doctor Who Christmas special, "The Snowmen", has been released.

Synopsis from the BBC:
Starring Matt Smith as the Doctor and introducing Jenna-Louise Coleman as Clara, his new companion, this year’s Christmas Special is called The Snowmen and follows their adventures as they battle the villainous Doctor Simeon (Richard E Grant) and his army of sinister snowmen.

The prequel to the episode and its official trailer were released November 17, for Children in Need. "The Snowmen" will air on BBC1 on Christmas Day.

What do you think, ONTD? I think it's horrible in that very special way only BBC photoshop can be, but I'm excited to meet Clara.

Oh man I hate the Next Doctor so much and I couldn't even tell you why, lol, I just found it SO boring. I think because the only interesting stuff IMO is the Jackson stuff and that all gets resolved in like fifteen minutes. I liked Rosita though.

Waters of Mars >>> every other special episode ever though.

Waters of Mars is so tonally all over the place and then it sets up the Doctor to face some repercussions for the way it ends and then he never does. And the water zombies aren't scary at all. If the writers knew they were bringing back Time Lords for the finale, they could have related that to the timeline breach. (I'm of the opinion the Time Lords should be necessary because the Doctor needs someone to rebel against, order to his chaos.)

IA with you about Waters of Mars. It creeped me the fuck out tbh

Waters of Mars is perfection.

It's my favourite.

The beautiful man in your icon was in my dream last night, which is actually a bit odd since I don't watch The Hour and saw Skyfall ages ago. But no complaints, I guess.

The Hour is so good!
He's so beautiful.

I've been thinking I might have to start watching it, I keep seeing it on Tumblr. I often don't do very well with dramas though, so I dunno. Is there a lot of levity/humour or is it srs bsnss all the time?
hateistoodark Re: 27th-Nov-2012 02:24 am (UTC)
Well it's very srs bsns most of the time but the leads are very charming.
fauxkaren 27th-Nov-2012 02:21 am (UTC)
YOU SHOULD WATCH THE OUR.

lol

Actually it's not really your kind of show, I don't think.

BUT IT IS REALLY GOOOOOOD. It was a lot better than I thought it would be because it has a really strong sort of conspiracy and spy element to it with some political undertones.
_thirty2flavors 27th-Nov-2012 02:23 am (UTC)
I've considered it because I am coming to terms with the fact that I find Ben Whishaw super attractive. BUT DRAMAS, IDK IDK. Is it only on s2?
fauxkaren 27th-Nov-2012 02:28 am (UTC)
Yeah, it's only on s2 (2x03 airs on Wednesday) and series 1 was only 6 episodes so it's not a huge commitment to catch up.

I'd give it a few episodes too if you want to try it because I watched the first episode ages ago and was confused about what was happening and gave up. But then I powered through a few more episodes and I got super into it.

It has some moments that are more lighthearted, but it doesn't have a ton of laugh out loud moments. And there's a couple of secondary characters that add a bit of comic relief in some respects. It is really suspenseful though and with all the spy stuff and political stuff and all the mystery and tension it reminded me a bit of Homeland or even Argo in some respects.

Also! Owen from Torchwood is in it! Joan Redfern is in an episode too!
