Lindsay Lohan Devastated By 'Liz & Dick' Criticism, Say Sources

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Friends say Lindsay Lohan wasn't prepared for the harsh criticism of her Lifetime movie "Liz & Dick." And instead of providing the career comeback the troubled star expected, her performance has left many wondering if she will ever be taken seriously as an actress again.

“Lindsay is devastated by the response to the film,” a close friend of the actress tells The Huffington Post. “She has got used to all the negative press around her personal life but this is the first time she has experienced it about her work. No matter how bad things were going for her personally, everyone would always agree that she was a great actress.”

The Hollywood Reporter compared the Lifetime drama to a "Saturday Night Live" skit. The New York Times accused the actress of “sleepwalking through scenes,” while Entertainment Weekly made fun of Lohan’s “frozen face” and “blank stare.”

“Lindsay has already read her own press,” one insider tells me. “She knew the script wasn't strong but thought she would bring the role of Elizabeth to life. This is particularly heartbreaking as her acting was the only thing in her life that she knew was real. Now she is doubting that, too.”

Lifetime and Lindsay’s spokesperson did not respond to calls for comment.

After receiving a series of harsh reviews for her performance as Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime biopic (The Hollywood Reporter called it "half train wreck, half SNL skit), the 26-year-old starlet's Chateau Marmont pal is sticking up for her famous friend.

"@lindsaylohan you did a beautiful job on Liz & Dick, Let no one bring u down, Liz didnt, they always try to knock the greats down a few pegs," the "Born This Way" singer tweeted Monday.

‏"@ladygaga thank you so much!," the comebacking actress posted in response. "You are such an incredible force and that means the world to me :) love & hugs xo hope to see you soon bella."

Lifetime Movies is where careers go to die a slow death. Not sure why or how she would've come to think she was resurrecting anything unless the producers etc just brainwashed her into thinking that so she's perform well... or try to.

And Gaga once again goes on to prove how full of shit she is. Bitch needs to stop it.

If they had gone harder. More jewels, more gaudiness, more drama and throwing tantrums...it would've worked. It had the potential to be 'Showgirls' status. They should've went for it all the way.

I agree. This was not the movie to hold.back.

I don't even know where all this "she has talent" thing came from, just because she wasn't completely horrible doesn't mean she was ever good, she always played herself, same tone, same voice, same mannerisms, she was better than the atrocious Hilary Duff, fine, but a good actress? never was and never will be.

I think it came from the media wanting to make her story sound so much more tragic. Like omg she would be covered in oscars rn if she didn't enjoy partying/booze/drugs etc

The only reason I wanted to watch this was to watch with the rest of ONTD. But I wasn't missing Dexter or Homeland so oh well.

I'm shocked that this didn't result in a phenomenal career comeback.

Oh, well, maybe her next Lifetime movie will. I mean, that worked for Meredith Baxter in the 90's, right?

I watched this with an open mind - I mean, it couldn't have been any more or less worse than any other Lifetime movie, right? No, really. It was that fucking bad. Even half a bottle of Jack Daniels couldn't mask how terrible it was.

Was Lindsay ever that good of an actress? She was good in Parent Trap when she was like 10. And that's pretty much it, imo. She wasn't that great in Mean Girls, it was the other cast members that made it so great.

Lindsay has already read her own press

Therein lies her ultimate, all-time problem.
shanny_w 27th-Nov-2012 12:06 am (UTC)
her being an amazing actress is an urban legend
illapse 27th-Nov-2012 02:25 am (UTC)
