Edit: Changing my OP note since I expressed myself poorly. ONTD has a well established tradition of attacking the looks of people they don't like (especially women) in the most vicious ways. Since Jennifer's body has been praised in the past (and since this is a bikini post), I was wondering whether her recent undeniably offensive remarks would have triggered that kind of backlash. Clearly not, based on this post.

i love her. yeah, what she said was dumb and it but it doesn't take away the fact that she's gorgeous and an amazing actress, and yeah she says some ignorant things sometimes but it hasn't villified her to me. i think she's generally likeable.

I don't understand why people got pissed off over the cat thing. Like why is it such a big deal? Named a cat after a transexual person, so what? I really don't get the outrage.

it's a pet name for her cat. ia that it was ignorant and she really shouldn't have publicized it on national tv, but i think the outrage is a little bit too extreme and people are overreacting.

mte, she seemed terrified/painfully nervous throughout the entire interview (ie repeating ellen every other line) so i doubt she meant it how it came off. plus she genuinely seems like someone who'd be completely mortified if someone took her aside and told her "hey, that was pretty ignorant"

I don't think intent should inform effect. However, I do think it matters that we hear someone out when they realize their intent didn't match their words/actions. idk I think it's really bad to write people off so easily and not listen to one another (and that is, of course, a two-way street).

Whatever, I still like her. She says dumb shit occasionally, but she seems like one of those people who just doesn't censor herself well and forgets that there are some things you can say amongst your friends that you can't say in public without sounding offensive, even if that's not your true meaning. Besides, I love her as an actress--only good thing about SLP, imo.
