Adele's music voted the most popular to fall asleep to

The music of Adele has been voted as the most popular to fall asleep to.

In a survey of 2000 people undertaken by hotel chain Travelodge – via Capital FM – Adele was found to be the top artist to help people fall asleep at night.

She was followed by Coldplay, who previously topped the poll in 2008 and 2010.

Snow Patrol and One Direction also featured in the Travelodge Top Five.

Travelodge quoted Edinburgh Sleep Centre expert Stevie Williams while giving the results of the poll. Williams said: "Results from various sleep studies undertaken with a variety of male and female groups, has indicated that listening to soft, relaxing music at bedtime leads to a number of different benefits to a night's sleep."

Earlier this month, Adele said she would only lose weight if it affected her "health or sex life".

According to The Sun, she said: "I read a comment on YouTube that I thought would upset me – 'Test pilot for pies' – but I've always been fine with it. I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn't."

Adele gave birth to her first child last month. In a recent interview, a spokesperson from Adele's record company XL said they didn't expect the follow-up to her hugely successful second LP, '21', for quite some time. The comment came after the news that the British indie label made £41 million in profit in 2011.

I sleep with the fan and tv on. It sucks when I travel with people since all of them sleep in silence which freaks me out : /
leitao 23rd-Nov-2012 06:18 am (UTC)
I need a fan or some white noise, too. Lying in bed in complete silence drive me batty, 'cause my mind won't shut up and I think of really weird shit, lmao.

But give me a fan, and it's smooth, peaceful sailin'.
redsprings 23rd-Nov-2012 06:32 am (UTC)
Yes gorl! I can't do silence, especially sleeping in a room with someone else.
flunkifer 23rd-Nov-2012 06:07 am (UTC)
i don't think i could fall asleep to adele's music because usually i'm laughing too hard at her lyrics
fruitchews 23rd-Nov-2012 06:09 am (UTC)
The only music I can fall asleep to is Opera. Any music with a beat or even just some slight tempo infuriates and rouses me from slep.

I never usually need music to help me fall asleep, unless I'm on a train or bus or something...but when I do, it's always Ed Sheeran.

sugarcrawler 23rd-Nov-2012 06:13 am (UTC)
that shit it annoying i will be mid sentence talking to someone and start falling right asleep on the spot lol
redaodai 23rd-Nov-2012 06:13 am (UTC)
I'm such an insomniac that melatonin alone doesn't work for me. I still take it with my Valerian root (I end up tripling the dosage), and that tends to make me sleepy. Doesn't make me drowsy.

I absolutely need music at night because I wake up to every little noise. Usually it's Daft Punk's Tron soundtrack. But sometimes I listen to Fleet Foxes or the Social Network soundtrack. Neko Case a lot as well. Anyone have suggestions?
leitao 23rd-Nov-2012 06:13 am (UTC)
I used to always fall asleep listening to music as a kid . . . usually really energetic stuff, too, like Madonna, the Spice Girls, bouncy Disney songs, etc.

Not so much anymore, though. Can't fall asleep to music unless I'm deeeeaaad tired and it's a really slow, soothing song (Sufjan Stevens does the trick, lol). Otherwise, I just wanna lip-sync, pretend I'm in a music video, or dance. XD

haha. smart choice. get your savings while saving the trouble of potentially getting trampled. Although, some people get this great adrenaline rush of partaking in the festivities that is Black friday ;)
