JGL on Jay Leno

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

JGL on the Magic Mike Skit

- Leno shows a clip from the best SNL monologue ever
- JGL got Channing Tatum's (who is his BFF by the way) approval
- Humping the floor = amazing

JGL on DDL

- DDL is a method actor. What else is new?
- DDL sent JGL texts and a handwritten letter while in character as Abraham Lincoln
- DDL and JGL had an awkward first meeting much like their characters in the film

JGL wears mismatched socks... again

Sorry jgl, but I'm pretty sure Lincoln was a racist who didn't care that much about black people.

I feel like many people forget this.....

Yep. I'm actually cringing at him saying Lincoln believed in equality.

LOL I know eh? But I mean he can't exactly say that Lincoln was actually more concerned with keeping the Union together than the fate of black people. I think Lincoln is one of those icons you can't exactly trash in the media.

But he went out of his way to say it, you know? They didn't ask "oh it's it great how much Lincoln loved black people?" He said it after they asked what surprised him most about Lincoln.

I mean, I know you are a JGL stan, but there's really no defense for this kind of ignorance.

IMO the movie itself really pushes the whole "Lincoln is a liberator" so it's not like he could say the opposite. Me being a stan doesn't necessarily stop me from laughing at his idealized Lincoln though. I guess I didn't take that comment as seriously because most actors are obligated to talk up a character/movie that they're involved with while promoting it, even if their opinion is something else.

ex. while promoting Sucker Punch, Emily Browning went around talking about how progressive and feminist the film is, which made me cringe cause the movie was such a flop. However, once she was done with it, she pointed out all the flaws because she was finally able to take a step back and reassess it.

Lincoln wanted to keep the states of the Union together, and he offered up forty acres and a mule to black males so that they could join the Northern side. When the North won the war, that promise wasn't delivered at all.

jazzypom Yeah, this. 22nd-Nov-2012 09:45 pm (UTC)
Didn't he offer to send them Sierra Leonne or some parts of Africa, never mind that the were as much African as he was!

lol ikr, he claimed to be anti-slavery but wrote repeatedly that his goal was not to let it spread to the north, not to stop it.
