'Mindy Project' cast shakeup: Anna Camp now recurring, Amanda Setton exits

There's some major tinkering going down at FOX's "The Mindy Project": co-star Anna Camp will shift from full-time regular to recurring status, while Amanda Setton will exit the series.

The critically acclaimed first-year comedy already received an expanded full-season order from FOX, but has struggled to find an audience in its five airings to date.

Camp plays the best friend of Mindy Kaling's character Mindy Lahiri and TVLine reports that the actress asked to be "taken off contract" so she can "pursue other opportunities" while continuing her "Mindy" role in a reduced capacity. (NOOOOOOO)

"Mindy" fans may have seen this coming: the show hasn't had the easiest time integrating Camp's character into storylines that largely concern Mindy's professional and dating life. Additionally, Camp recently appeared on the big screen in the sleeper success "Pitch Perfect."

Setton's character -- sexpot receptionist Shauna -- fit more naturally into the storylines, but the actress' exit comes down to "creative reasons."

TVLine additionally notes that "Mindy" plans to introduce a new female character soon: Maggie, a tomboyish college friend of Mindy's, who could become a series regular.

Not related to cast changes but I was confused by yest. shows ending. A recap said Danny ending up going to Gwens party. I think he just went home.

huh? i didnt get that he went to gwens party at all, i think he just went home too. i mean, it was hella late anyway and the party would basically be over by the time he got there. he just seemed happy he got texts from mindy and left.

They didn't show what he texted back, did they? Cause then he got a text right back and then was all happy and left and it was just weird. If they were trying to make it seem like he was just happy to get a text from her, then it was shown in a weird way.

oh they showed him texting back. he said "happy turkey". i dont get why they didnt make him say happy turkey day lol. but then he got another text from her (which we didnt see) and it just showed him smirking and then leaving.

btw, i knew he texted her back but i also thought they didnt show what he said. the only reason i know is because i download the show so i was able to go back and review it lol.

Yeah, Im sticking with he went home too. But I was left a little "what" at the end of the ep and went searching and found this

"As for Danny, it turns out he doesn't want to spend Thanksgiving alone after all. The closing scene ends with him rushing out the door after getting a text from Mindy. Someone was aching for a little time with friends and family."

I think she was projected. But if that is what they were trying to convey ... fail

oh yeah that interpretation of the ending doesnt seem completely right. it was pretty clear what they wanted to do with danny this episode. show him being alone doing whatever at the office because hes the macho independent guy but end it with him showing he actually doesnt want to be alone due to mindy. but he wasnt rushing out the door at all. the reviewer seems a bit too eager with that.
