I know it's incredibly stupid, but I totally get that cats=girls, dogs=boys. I'm only gotten about of that mindset because I've had quite a few boy cats now.

I always refer to animals as "it" if I don't know the gender, because it always bugged me if people got the gender of my pets wrong for some inexplicable reason. It also bugs me that most animals in general are assumed to be male.

idk, i always assume cats are boys first, lol, oop at me. i don't assume all dogs are boys either, but i do make assumptions by breeds. like i look at all of the small dogs (yorkies, malteses, maltipoos, etc) as girls, poodles as girls, etc. most big dogs i just assume are boys, lol

in my family, since i was little, we have only ever had boy cats and girl dogs so it is very much opposite for me. i use the wrong pronouns for other people's animals all the time.
